Iran’s Latest Tactics

Accusations from the Supreme Leader

Iran’s supreme leader accused the U.S. of making military threats to force Iran to sign a nuclear deal. He did not cite any proof that this is true. It seems that Iran hopes to use instability in their own nation as a bargaining chip to get what they want.

An expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), Saeed GhasseminItejad, said Iran has only been emboldened by ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States. He believes Iran will use the money it receives to expand its weapons programs and military. He is concerned a nuclear Iran will end up dominating the region.

Changes to U.S. Naval Strategy Regarding Iran

The Maersk container ship (registered under the U.S.-protected Marshall Islands) will soon be released by Iran. It has been held for over a week in an Iranian Port. Because tensions have died down, U.S. Navy vessels will no longer accompany commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Accusations by Iranian State Media

Iranian state media says U.S. warships are running from its navy, claiming a U.S. warship and several planes “changed their direction” when they came across an Iranian naval fleet. The U.S. State Dept. has not commented on this incident.

Why this Matters: We have to tread very carefully with Iran. They are double-tongued and unreliable. President Obama very badly wants the nuclear deal to go through. It looks as though Congress will be able to review any deal before it is signed with Iran. This is a very good thing.

How to Pray: Pray that God will keep America safe. Ask Him to confuse our enemies and keep them from being able to do us harm. Ask that the Congress will have full approval of any deal with Iran.

Pray also for UK elections Thursday, and Benjamin Netanyahu’s very shaky coalition in the Israeli government, which came together just before the deadline. Ask God to preserve those in foreign governments who most represent the way He thinks.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Ps. 122:6
