San Bernardino Shooter Promised Jihad on Facebook

unnamedTashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino shooters, was active on Facebook and pledged her support for ISIS and jihad. On the day of the shooting, Malik and her husband Farook used Facebook to declare their joint allegiance to ISIS. In 2014, Malik entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa (also called a “fiancé visa”.) Officials missed her Facebook messages, and admit they do not look at an applicant’s social media postings as part of a background check. In order to pass, applicants must provide fingerprints and have their names checked on multiple databases. An interview is also required.

The FBI is now trying to determine if Malik received any direct encouragement, financial support or specific instructions from foreign terrorist organizations. John Kirby, a State Department official said the K-1 visa screening process is being reviewed in light of recent events.

Why this Matters: Congress is voting soon on the Omnibus Spending Bill which contains funding for two immigration programs-executive amnesty to award several hundred thousand work visas, and the Syrian Refugee Program. Both should be defunded by our Congress until a thorough and transparent vetting process can be established.

How to Pray: Father, help our representatives stay strong in their insistence on common sense protocols for immigrants. As the issue goes forward in Congress, we ask for spending within the original budget caps and that the legislation will include riders that defund Planned Parenthood, executive amnesty, and the Syrian Refugee Program.

(1 Tim 2:1-2) I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
