Europe’s Enemy Within

unnamed

Groups of Syrian refugees–mostly young men–gathered on the banks of the Rhine River in Cologne, Germany New Year’s Eve. They weren’t alone. There were thousands of native Germans there to enjoy the fireworks. That abruptly ended as angry, roving bands of 20 to 30 Muslim men targeted the German women for sexual assault. The offenses ranged from lewd remarks to groping, tearing their clothes, and rape. Officials estimate there were around 1,000 Arab or of North African perpetrators. Similar incidents happened that night in other German cities, including Stuttgart and Hamburg.

German women are not alone as the target of sexual abuse by Muslims. Women in England, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark–countries that have also taken in large numbers of Muslim refugees–fear the dramatic rise in sexual violence as the cultural disparity between the value of women in traditional European cultures clashes with Muslim traditions. Islam allows men to force sex on women, and that includes their wives.

Government officials in these countries are turning a blind eye to cultural nature of the problem, as much of Europe has a “see no evil” policy when it comes to adherents of Islam. Norway is offering five-hour classes to Muslims that will educate them on the rights of women, hoping that will alleviate the problem.

Why this Matters: As the U.S. grapples with President Obama’s promise to bring in thousands of Syrian refugees, we need to ask if it’s even possible for our Western society to live at peace with a culture that allows rape and other forms of sexual violence. These are not just lesser crimes; they are no crime at all in many Muslim countries.

Media elites wonder why Donald Trump is leading in the polls. He recently said we should put a pause on Muslim immigration until we can figure things out–referring to our vetting process. That sent the media howling! Today, between Islamist slayings in the U.S. and the sad state of places like Cologne and Paris, Trump seems like the smartest guy out there. This is not an endorsement for Trump, but a recognition that other candidates need to wake up, let go of their fear of man, and speak the truth.
How to Pray: Father, we seek peace in the midst of evil exalting itself. Give us a God-fearing, conservative President and a majority in Congress. Lift up those who will agree with Your Word about what is evil and what is good.
Psalm 119:165 – Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them
Isaiah 5:20-21 – Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto [them that are] wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
