Why Muslims “Deserve” Special Status

We read about President Obama’s disdain to use the words “radical Islam,” or to admit the recent terror attacks have been committed by Muslims. He wants to open the U.S. borders wide to admit hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees–yet there are several accounts where the State Department is turning them down if they are Christians.
While visiting the communist dictatorship of Cuba where people are jailed for speech crimes, President Obama said he “welcomes” their government’s criticism of U.S. human rights abuses. That statement had many Americans scratching their heads. A new story from Tuesday’s headlines suggests that Secretary Kerry, who is visiting Japan, is pushing for Obama to repent for our bombing of Hiroshima during World War II. As most know, the U.S. did not want to get into the war, but we were compelled when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
So what’s up with the growing effort to cast America–and Western society–as the world’s bad guy? If we take a look at postmodernism, we find a mindset that is affecting the church and society as a whole and causing the great divide between the generations, a rewriting of history, and a twisting of the Gospel.
Postmodernism and the Decline of America
Postmodernism is a school of thought that has been taught in American schools since the late 1900s. It says our world is in a state of perpetual incompleteness, truth is fluid, and there are many ways to know something. The brilliant and enlightened ones are those who are completely skeptical about everything, including history. If you’ve seen the movies “The Truman Show,” starring Jim Carey, or “The Matrix” you have an idea of what postmodern life looks like when there is no absolute truth.
Now let’s look at the “emerging church.”According to postmodernists, it is impossible for there to be only one way to God.  The church that has emerged out of that thinking is disillusioned with the way traditional church is organized. Ministry is centered on “developing conversation” and social activism rather than evangelism. In some emerging churches, the Bible is not seen as the inerrant Word of God, and sin is not mentioned, but mysticism and yoga are taught instead.
A common belief between the emerging church and people such as President Obama is that traditional history cannot be trusted. Postmodernism teaches that the authors of history books had the wrong motives (because they were Westerners with an agenda to make themselves look good),  therefore history must be deconstructed–taken apart–and rewritten correctly. In particular, they say the Crusades were evil and perpetrated against innocent Muslims.
As Caroline Glick of the Jerusalem Post has written, President Obama refuses to protect Middle East Christians because he cannot do so without abandoning his ideological faith that the only “natives” of the Middle East are the Muslims.” Click here to read more.
Is that true? The Bible says the Jews were also natives. Are the Muslims the victims of Western evil? The Christian Crusades, which are being blamed for genocide of Muslims, were begun 470 years after the Muslim Crusades annihilated the Christians! Muhammad himself led the way in 630 A.D. with a bloody campaign of conquest which has not ever stopped. The Christian Crusades were attempts by believers to save other Christian nations from the killing spree and domination of Muslims, and to recapture lands that were taken by them.
A second misconception is that Islam is a religion of peace. Unfortunately, the Quran instructs adherents to fight with unbelievers and “slay the idolaters wherever you find them. If they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate” (tax), they can be left alone. Because there is a confusing mix of texts besides the Quran, Muslim apologists will say those writings don’t count. Actually, to some Muslims, they do count! Click here to read more.
While postmodernism seeps into every aspect of Western culture, Christians are being killed by Muslims in the Middle East and Africa at an alarming rate. UNICEF released a report on Tuesday saying the Nigeria-based Islamic group Boko Haram is increasingly using captured children–especially little girls–to carry out suicide attacks.
The President has announced he will be doubling down on his promise to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees by year’s end. All but a tiny minority are Muslims. And although a vetting process is in place to screen for radicals, the number to be admitted per day is 358, if his quota is to be reached.

Pray for God’s mercy on us as these refugees come in to the U.S. May our screening process find and filter out those who would do us harm. Father, give us compassion for the Muslims. Help us to have opportunities to share Christ with them. Our hope is in You, not in man, or in man’s institutions. Make our way straight.
Prov. 29:18 – Where [there is] no vision, the people perish:
but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.

  1. I hear he wants to reduce the vet time from two years to three months and I have also heard that our law enforcement agencies do not have the capability of doing a proper vetting process on all the intended immigrants. That would seem to me to present a problem of epic proportions. So how can the government be so cavalier?
