Abortion Exceptions and Transgender Bathrooms

transgenderDonald Trump spoke out on the campaign trail, saying he would change a plank in the Republican Party platform to make three exception to protecting the life of the unborn child. Those would be in the case of rape, incest, and endangering the life of the mother. John Katich agrees with Trump’s position, but Ted Cruz opposes any changes to the platform.

A few weeks ago, Trump said women who have abortions should be prosecuted.

Trump also believes businesses should not be required to provide specials bathrooms for transgenders because it would “incredibly expensive,” and we should “leave it the way it is.” He said transgenders should be allowed to choose whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable using. His comments were in response to a new ordinance in North Carolina that says transgenders should use the bathroom that corresponds to their birth certificate.

Ted Cruz countered Trump’s statements by saying, “Grown, adult men–strangers–should not be alone in a bathroom with little girls.”

Why this Matters: One pro-life group said changing the party’s platform would be a set-back for the pro-life movement. Trump could be using both of these social issues as ways to broaden his appeal to moderate voters.

How to Pray: For God’s choice of candidate to emerge as the leader, for party unity–no matter who our nominee is–and that Republicans can set aside their differences and focus on the big picture, because we know Who is in charge. Praise God that our faith is not about who wins the election!

1 John 5:4 – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
