The gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar” then opened fire in an Orlando gay bar killing 50 and wounding at least 53 more at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning. SWAT teams finally rushed inside around 6 a.m. and killed the shooter, who had been holding several dozen people hostage. The nightclub “Pulse” billed itself as the hottest gay bar in Orlando and was packed with more than 300 people for Latin Night.

Omar Mir Seddique Mateen was born in the U.S. to parents of Afghan origin. He had been living in Fort Pierce, FL. His ex-wife says he was not a stable person. “He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.”
Mateen was described by fellow Muslims from the Islamic Center in Fort Pierce as a devoted father and family man. He often attended the mosque with his three-year-old son. Sateen left the U.S. in 2011 to go to Dubai, and made an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in March 2012.
Mateen was a licensed security officer and had a FL state firearms license and had purchased two guns in the past week. He was on FBI radar in 2013 when he commented to co-workers on his ties to terrorism. The FBI interviewed him twice, but couldn’t verify the substance of his remarks. He was also interviewed in 2014, but it was determined he wasn’t a threat. Mateen was not on a current terror watchlist.
Why this Matters: This is part of the global jihadi strategy, not a hate crime against gays. No matter what a person has done, God is still trying to call them to righteousness, and ultimately, many who are confused about their sexuality and other issues may still come to the Lord. The President, political class and most of the media wants to make this into a hate crime and solely an LGBT issue. They miss the greater point of Islamic terrorism and invitations within the Koran to kill homosexuals.
As one Muslim scholar has said speaking in April at an Orlando mosque, “Death is the sentence [for homosexuals]; and we know there’s nothing to be embarrassed about… We have to have that compassion for people, with homosexuals, it’s the same, out of compassion, let’s get rid of them now.”
How to Pray: Father God, many of us think of days when we condoned our own sin. Thank you that we have had the chance to repent and count on Jesus to remove the curse for us. We lift up the LGBT community–especially those who are critically injured from this attack. Heal them and give them more time. We pray for their salvation. Comfort those who mourn and give them hope, in Jesus’ name.
Father, our nation is crumbling from within. We are the ones who say “restore.” Our war is ideological; we’re fighting against lies and hatred. Father, remove leaders who refuse to open their eyes to the root of these attacks. Give us leaders who will not be afraid to identify evil, in Jesus’ name.

Praying Citizen 
So sad that it comes to this. I pray that people will open their eyes and hearts to what is happening on the world stage and turn to Jesus. As I was listening to the news I heard that prayers were being offered and that people were waiting for hours to donate blood. When people pray , what are they praying? Where is their heart? I pray that there will be a true and correct response and that lives are changed. Jesus is coming soon and there will be no more time to repent! The people who were murdered no longer HAVE another chance.
