A staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union released a statement following the Orlando attack saying the Christian Right is implicated. The attorney, Chase Strangio, points to the 200 “anti-LGBT” bills passed in the last six months. This would include the recent ruling in North Carolina on bathroom usage.
Sally Kohn of MSNBC says those who practice traditional sexuality are hypocrites for condemning the killing of gays. “You either support the dignity and equal treatment of all LGBT people or you support their systemic dehumanization,” she said.
Author Victoria Brownworth, a lesbian, reacted to the tweet of Mike Huckabee who expressed sympathy for the victims of the attack and their families. She said “We don’t want your hypocritical prayers. You led the fight against LGBT people. You promote this every day.”
President Obama called for gun control and said that we as a nation should be defined by “the way [the gays] lived their lives,” not by the hatred of the shooter. What Mr. Obama did not mention are the words “Islamic,” “Muslim,” “Jihad,” or “radical.”
Hillary Clinton came out strongly against Donald Trump’s promise to temporarily halt immigration from Muslim countries. She said Trump’s ban “hurts the vast majority of Muslims who love freedom and hate terror.”
Donald Trump said Mrs. Clinton’s earlier refusal to use the term “radical Islam” shows her weakness to the entire world. He said he does not support curbing gun rights, but instead the immigration system needs an overhaul before more people are allowed in. Trump criticized Clinton and Obama, saying, “They have put political correctness above common sense, above your safety and above all else… I refuse to be politically correct.”
Why this Matters: The battle lines have been drawn. The Left believes Christians who do not wholly support and approve of LGBT sexuality and gender identity are the true purveyors of evil. They are all about “equal rights,” as long as that means the right to impose their agenda and beliefs on everyone else.
We would do well to remind everyone it is the teachings of Mohammed that strip women of their rights and direct men to bring physical, sexual and emotional abuse on their wives. It is because of the teachings of Islam that gay men in Muslim countries have been tortured and thrown off the tops of buildings. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob offers a Savior whose blood covers sin and gives us abundant life. He paid the penalty so that we don’t have to.
Father, as we see our culture and country breaking apart and profaning the name of Jesus, we are troubled to the core. We know the days are growing shorter and that soon, the Lord will return. We pray for You to direct our steps and guide us these final days. Prepare our hearts and reveal Yourself to our unsaved loved ones that they might find the Savior. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
