U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said during a press conference that the Justice Department may never know why Omar Mateen entered an Orlando gay bar and shot 100 people, saying people often act out of more than one motivation. Lynch promised there would be a full investigation into his motives, saying federal investigators are still uncertain as to what drove him to violence and what part anti-gay may have played.
In response to questions Lynch also said, “Our most effective response to hatred and terror is compassion, unity, and love.”
Lynch also admitted that the FBI doesn’t know the whereabouts of Omar Mateen’s wife, Noor Salman, who accompanied him when he bought weapons and knew he was about to commit terrorist attack. “Right now, I don’t know exactly the answer to [whether she has left Florida]. I believe she was going to travel but I do not know exactly her location,” Lynch told reporters.
Why this Matters: As reported on June 19 in Praying Citizen, the administration was all set to release the transcript of Mateen’s 911 call, but scrubbed of all references to Allah, Islam and Mateen’s pledge to ISIS. Lynch defended the decision, claiming this would only “further his propaganda.” The firestorm of protest from all quarters caused Lynch to change her decision and all but 20 minutes of the transcript was released.
There is no reason to believe a Hillary Clinton presidency would be any different. Four years ago, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice toured the Sunday media shows blaming the deadly Benghazi attack on an internet video. In that attack, four Americans–including our ambassador to Libya–were killed and dozens of others were wounded. There are many questions as to why Mrs. Clinton ignored their pleas for help. When asked about her actions by a congressional subcommittee, Mrs. Clinton proclaimed, “What difference, at this point, does it make?!”

How to Pray: Father, Your light exposes the things of darkness. Let Your light continue to expose this type of insanity and foolishness that by some miracle of Your grace, the American people will wake up. Keep Your hand on our country and guide the upcoming election.
Eph. 5: 11, 13 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them… But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Trump’s Would-Be Assassin an Illegal
Michael Sandford went to a Trump rally in Las Vegas on June 18 and attempted to shoot Donald Trump. Sandford, 20, is a British citizen who overstayed his visa and is in the U.S. illegally. He was arrested after he tried to snatch a handgun from a uniformed officer. The day before, Sandford was practicing at a gun range. He said in court documents he was convinced he would be killed by law enforcement during his attempt on Trump’s life.
Trump said he learned about the incident watching television, and had this reaction: “We have tremendous Secret Service and we have tremendous police throughout this country and I think they did a fantastic job.”
Why this Matters: There are nearly 500,000 people in the U.S. who have overstayed their visas. The federal government is not planning on trying to find these people and send them back. Even worse, similar data is not available on those who are here as students or temporary workers; nor does it include those who came via land (rather than by air or sea). Homeland Security has not created a system that will accurately track entry/exit of visitors, even though this was one of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.
How to Pray: Thank You Father for keeping Mr. Trump safe. Give us the national will to elect leaders who will be committed to following the law! Help our next administration develop systems and procedures to secure our land.
Trump Meets with 1,000 Christian Leaders
At an event on June 22, Donald Trump met with 1,000 Christian leaders in New York. Among the attendees were Franklin Graham, Dr. James Dobson, and Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
No journalists were invited, but Mrs. King wrote about the event on her blog. Here are some of her take-aways:
- Mr. Trump assured the attendees that protecting religious liberty is a primary concern for him and is at the top of his to-do list
- He further promised to appoint prolife Supreme Court justices
- He promised that American will be free to say, “Merry Christmas” again
- He promised economic justice as a means of lessening the bands of racism
- He promised safe borders for America
- He promised to strengthen our military to protect our nation
- He gave God the credit for giving him intelligent children
Let’s join Dr. King in her prayer: “Lift up Mr. Trump, Mrs. Clinton, all congressional, gubernatorial, state, county and local candidates, that God will, according to Romans 13 and 1 Tim. 2:2, bless us so that America can have peace and prosperity.” Amen!
