Hacked DNC Emails Show Bias Against Sanders

Wikileaks released 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Convention. The emails reveal bias in the Democrat Party machine, favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders. As a result, DNC chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will resign after this week’s convention.

One DNC employee asked in an email if Sanders was an atheist, saying his Southern Baptist “peeps” would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist. Sanders responded to the leaked emails saying he was not an atheist and it was an outrage and “sad” there would be people within the DNC trying to undermine his campaign.

It is not known how Wikileaks obtained the emails. A Romanian who calls himself Guccifer 2.0 has claimed credit, but some believe the records were stolen by a team of Russian hackers. Wikileaks is calling this “part one” of a series called “Hillary Leaks.”

Former Republican candidate Ben Carson spoke about the incident on Fox News. He said, “The level of corruption throughout the political system is overwhelming–both establishment Republicans and establishment Democrats. The DNC is completely corrupt; there was no way for anybody to break through. In the RNC, the will of the people prevailed [in the nomination of Donald Trump].”

Why this Matters: Sanders came very close to winning the nomination, except that Clinton got the Superdelegates. These are party insiders who do not have to vote according to the will of the people. On Sunday, the day before the Democratic National Convention began in Philadelphia, 1,000 Sanders supporters marched in protest of Clinton’s nomination. So far, the protestors have been peaceful. Pray that spirit of peace will continue.

Hillary Chooses Running Mate

On Saturday, Hillary Clinton announced Senator Tim Kaine will join her as candidate for Vice President. Kaine, 58, is the junior Senator from Virginia, and has also served as governor. He sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

More Killings in Afghanistan and Germany

Kabul, Afghanistan – A suicide bomber killed at least 80 and wounded 231 others who were peacefully demonstrating in the capital city of Kabul. The Hazara demonstrators, a tiny Shia sect, were asking for power lines to be routed through their impoverished province. ISIS is taking credit for the attack.

Nuremberg, Germany – A man wearing a backpack blew himself up on Sunday, injuring 12 bystanders. The incident caused the evacuation of more than 2,000 people from a nearby music festival.

Reutlingen, Germany – 21-year-old Syrian refugee with a machete killed a pregnant woman and injured two other people. This man is now in police custody.

Munich, Germany – 9 dead, others wounded by 18-year-old Iranian-German man who opened fire inside a McDonald’s, then proceeded to a shopping mall. He took his own life as police approached.

Wurzburg, Germany – A Pakistani teen armed with an axe and a knife injured five people on a train in southern Germany. He was shot dead by police.

Why this Matters: German Chancellor Angela Merkel has openly welcomed more than one million Muslims into Germany in the past year, seemingly without a thought to how the Western culture and Islam will merge. So far, only two of the killings in Germany have been attributed to Muslim extremists, yet we don’t know if “inconvenient” details–which might indicate radical motives for the other two incidents–have been squelched.

Note: It is not the intention of Praying Citizen to bring only devastating news, but the headlines are what they are. As it seems like the severity and frequency of these horrendous acts increases, let’s keep our eyes on Jesus.

Pray for the election and the two team as they put together their strategies for the election. May God have His way in the outcome. Father, we trust in You because you have been tried and proven to be perfect in all Your ways. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving us. Comfort all those who mourn and turn the hearts of the leaders in Germany and Afghanistan to make good decisions for their people.

2 Sam. 22:31 – As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is tried:
he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Rom. 5:8 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
