The Battle for Immigration and Security

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump couldn’t disagree more on immigration and securing the nation. Clinton considers U. S. borders to already be completely secure, thinks immigration should be expanded, and opposes nearly all deportations. Trump wants to build a wall, make the country secure, and raise the standards for who gets in.

In a campaign speech on Monday, Donald Trump revealed the details behind his proposal to conduct “extreme vetting” of immigrants. At the beginning of his candidacy, Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration. He has since added that this temporary halt would be for those from the “most dangerous and volatile regions of the world that have a history of exporting terrorism.”

Trump said the screening process would be overhauled in order to identify and weed out those who do not hold American values. This includes:

  1. Those who do not believe in the U. S. Constitution
  2. Those who support bigotry and hatred
  3. Those who want to replace U. S. law with Sharia law

(A legal loophole in UK recognizes under-age Muslim marriages of they were lawful in the country of origin)

His new policy would use questionnaires, social media, and interviews with family and friends to assess each applicant. They would have to support things such as gender equality, gay rights, and religious freedom. He called on parents, teachers, and others to promote American culture and assimilation.

Trump said he would also end our current strategy of nation-building and regime change, which has been the policy of several administrations–Republican and Democrat.

Last week, Trump was roundly criticized for blaming the rise of ISIS on President Obama and Hillary Clinton. He said their policies, including the early withdrawal of U. S. troops from Iraq, made them the “founders” of ISIS. It seems Trump has reason to say so. A 2012 defense intelligence report showed that U. S. policy was to support the Syrian rebels who were led by Al Qaeda and ISI. These groups later morphed into ISIS.
Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State at the time.

On national security, Clinton says ours is the most secure border we’ve ever had. Yet, the facts do not support her claim. In 2014 there were 11 million illegals in the U.S.; more than half were Mexicans who had crossed the border. Nothing has been done to beef-up border security.

Regarding immigration, Clinton would like to see a massive expansion. Her goal is to welcome 65,000 Syrian refugees in 2017. Beyond that, she would require a ballooning of immigration to 4 million in the first few years of her administration.

Other Clinton policies:

  • Continue President Obama’s executive amnesties (DACA and DAPA) which give work permits and federal benefits to illegals
  • No deportation for any illegals except violent criminals and terrorists
  • Provide a “full and equal path to citizenship” for all illegals within her first 100 days in office

Why this Matters: Congress considered and rejected Obama’s changes to immigration law in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2014. DAPA and DACA were created so that he could override Congress. Clinton’s policies are a continuation of Obama’s. Mark Krikorian, of The Center for Immigration Studies, has called Clinton’s plan “a breathtaking step toward open borders.”

In an economy as weak as ours, allowing illegals unfettered access to jobs will surely make it harder for out-of-work Americans. They will stand in line with–or behind–illegals for federal benefits. This surely cannot be what is best for America. Even worse is Sharia law: it allows slavery, oppresses women, and is no way compatible with the Constitution.

Pray for the election: that it would be fair, that God would expose the truth about both sides of the issues, and that Christians would be compelled by the Holy Spirit to become educated about the candidates and vote their consciences.

1 Timothy 5:8 – But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Keep Praying!

The flood waters in Louisiana have risen even further and the death toll is at 10. Tens of thousands of homes have been ruined.

In California, wildfires are threatening areas east of Los Angeles and 82,000 people have been told to evacuate.

May the Lord preserve His own and protect the rescue workers and firefighters. May the unsaved turned to the Lord Jesus for salvation and hope.
