Stalemate on President’s Immigration Executive Order

President Trump’s temporary ban on travel from seven terror-prone countries has run into a myriad of problems, including protests and judges’ orders to temporarily stop it. On Friday, a federal judge in Seattle halted the order. By early afternoon, the State Department and Homeland Security complied, allowing travelers, immigrants, and refugees to come into the U.S.

The Trump Justice Department then filed an appeal, saying the judge’s ruling is in conflict with the fact that an alien seeking admission to the U.S. is asking for a privilege only granted to citizens. Further, the appeal states that the temporary ban is necessary to ensure those approved have no intent to harm the U.S. and do not have ties to terrorism.

The executive order was roundly criticized by those on the left because it identifies seven countries that are predominantly Muslim: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Syria. There are 50-plus other majority-Muslim nations not specified in the order. The first day, there was some confusion on the part of Homeland Security as to the order’s specifics. The left took advantage of that and doubled-down on the protests and outcry in the mainstream media.

Because the order was enacted without warning to travelers, the media and even some conservatives accused the administration of being clumsy or ignorant. The administration fired back, claiming this was a necessary element of surprise meant to catch bad guys. In the end, 109 people were detained while security could enact extreme vetting. It took nearly three days to finish the vetting.

After the federal appeals court judge declined to reinstate the President’s executive order, President Trump responded with this tweet: “The judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interested at heart. Bad people are very happy!”

The states of Washington and Minnesota brought the first lawsuit and issued a temporary restraining order. The judge executing the halt said he believed Washington and Minnesota were likely to win. If Trump’s order stands, there are about 100,000 visas that could be revoked.

Why this Matters: We have to remember that illegals broke the law to be in the U.S. God is merciful but He is also just. One reason Trump won the election is because the American people are concerned about justice being trampled. The money that is being spent to care for illegals is particularly troubling because we are in debt as a nation and our lawmakers have been irresponsible with our money. Compassion belongs to Americans first.

The President believes he is fully within his right. He makes foreign policy decisions, not the courts. His recent comments are that he wants to give preference to Christians and other refugees who are suffering the worst abuse. A Pew study over six years (2006-2012) found that Christians were by far the most persecuted people. The data showed that Christians were being harassed for their faith in 151 countries, Muslims in 135, and Jews in 95 countries.

How to Pray: Father, we implore You to direct the path of this executive order. We pray for righteousness and truth, plus mercy and peace to work together according to Your will. Thank You for caring about everything we face as a nation.

Ps. 85:10 – Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

Anti-Trump Federal Workers
Consider fighting President’s Agenda

President Trump’s actions to begin enforcing his agenda–those things he promised in his campaign–have many federal workers rising up in opposition to their new boss. In a report released over the weekend, it was revealed that these seditious employees are consulting regularly with Obama’s appointees on how to push back against President Trump. One way they are fighting back is to use social media to leak information about Trump’s changes. One D.C.-area church hosted a support group for federal workers opposing Trump. Another workshop will offer expert advice on how workers can express civil disobedience.

A Justice Department employee said his office plans to slow its work and to file complaints if asked to shift money towards projects they don’t agree with. “People here will resist and push back against orders they find unconscionable,” he said.

The resistance is widespread and deep. The permanent bureaucracy is the backbone of the federal government and somewhat removed from partisan politics, yet, conservatives have often said the bureaucracy makes progress difficult.

According to The Washington Post, resistance ranges from low-level grumbling to angry opposition posted online and anonymous pledges of outright insubordination. Some of the resistance appears to be run by outside activists, rather than agency employees.

The State Department has an official dissent channel where employees can register opposition without fear of reprisal. However, employees are so nervous that one association published a report enumerating legal protections for employees. It also warned that walking-out in protest of a policy, even temporarily could result in being fired.

As more proof of the forces working against the President, there was a leak last weekend of transcripts of phone conversations the President had with leaders of Australia and Mexico. On Monday, Trump spoke to Fox News and said it was “Obama people” leaking various details of those conversations, and his administration was searching for them “very, very hard.” He added that the media reports made it seem that these were angry conversations, but he has positive relations with both countries and their leaders.

Why this Matters: A recent analysis showed that 95 percent of campaign donations from employees at 14 federal agencies went to Hillary Clinton. Washington, D.C. is a liberal, Democrat, progressive town. President Trump and his cabinet have their work cut out for them.

Pray that the federal employees who cannot deal with new management would find work elsewhere and the Lord would replace them quickly. Pray for the truth to overcome lies and people who are fearful because they have listened to lies would turn to God for peace. May Mr. Trump double-down in seeking godly wisdom and counsel for his decisions.

Ps. 5:4-5 – For thou art not a God the hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hates all workers of iniquity.

Misleading “Climate Science” Convinces World Leaders to Fund UN

The UK Daily Mail released a story on Sunday that shows fake science was used to influence world leaders meeting at the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. A whistle blower at NOAA–America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration–told the UK Daily Mail that the agency rushed to publish data which had not been verified nor subjected to rigorous internal review. It was used as a tactic to instill fear about global warming, and thus increase funding.

John J. Bates, a top NOAA scientist, said his superiors overruled his objections to publishing unverified and misleading data. Bates says the author of the climate data insisted on “decisions and scientific choices that maximized warming and minimized documentation in order to discredit the notion of a global warming “pause.”

The data was in a 2015 report that claimed the slow down in global warming never existed and temperatures had been rising faster than expected. The report grabbed attention worldwide and influenced decisions made at the Paris agreement. In reality, the globe hasn’t been warming in last few decades. Bates says NOAA acted in a “blatant attempt to intensify the impact” of its data.

Why this Matters: This is the second time that fake data was used to make people believe the planet is on its way to destruction because of warming. According to National Review, shortly before the UN climate summit in 2009, thousands of emails written by climate scientists were leaked. The emails suggest the scientists had manipulated and falsified data.

President Trump is a climate change skeptic. He has already pledged to reverse President Obama’s legacy of green policies and to withdraw from the Paris deal. Obama’s pledge was to reduced emissions and transfer $100 billion annually to “climate finance” from the developed world to the developing countries. We already spend $10 billion on subsidies to green-energy companies in the U.S. Meanwhile China, India, and other countries continue to pollute.

Thank God that He controls our planet and the heavens and the atmosphere. He alone preserves them. Pray for President Trump and his cabinet and that lies would continue to be exposed.

Neh. 9:6 – Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worships thee.
