Ninth Circuit Rules against Trump; Some Syrian Refugees Definitely Terrorists

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday to reject a bid by the Trump administration to reinstate the temporary immigration travel ban and blocking of Syrian refugees.

The President tweeted in response, “SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!” His administration will now seek a ruling from the Supreme Court.

The President’s executive order restricts the entry of Syrian refugees, halts admission to all refugees for 120 days, and puts a 90-day hold on entry by citizens of Syria, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Libya or Sudan. The ban was instituted to give Homeland Security time to develop extreme vetting protocols.

Opponents of the ban argue it violates due process and equal protection rights. The judges of the 9th Circuit ruled that the ban is discriminatory against Muslims.

As soon as the ban was put on hold, the rates of refugees from those seven countries doubled. Overall, 77 percent of the 1,100 refugees that have come into the U.S. since that day were from the seven restricted countries.

Syrian President Assad was interviewed by Yahoo News and asked about the travel ban of citizens from his country. Assad said that some of the Syrian refugees are definitely terrorists. He added, “you don’t need a significant number to commit atrocities.”

Why this Matters: The Constitution assigns foreign policy to the president alone. He may ban immigrants from any given place, without having to consult with Congress, but the 9th Circuit took away that away. The Supreme Court should rule properly and reinstate the President’s orders.

Pray for the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and that the Court would do its duty to properly interpret the Constitution.

Sen. Kevin De Leon, President Pro Tem California Senate

California Lawmaker Admits
Family in U.S. Illegally

California Senator Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles) admitted publicly that “half of his family” is residing in the United States illegally. He said they also possess falsified Social Security cards and green cards, which is a felony. According to De Leon, his family members would be eligible for deportation under President Trump’s executive order.

De Leon spoke during a hearing on a bill he introduced for a vote by the California Senate. His bill would make the entire state of California a “Sanctuary State.”

Why this Matters: Like sanctuary cities, a sanctuary state would provide refuge for all illegal aliens and prevent law enforcement from cooperating with the federal government in deporting them.

Some “red” states have passed legislation to prevent this type of law-breaking. Texas has just joined Florida, Idaho, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee in adopting measures that would remove state funding of “sanctuary cities” whose law enforcers disregard federal immigration laws.

Pray for the rule of law to return to America.

Sessions Sworn-in, Three New Executive  Orders

Jeff Sessions was sworn-in Thursday morning as attorney general, the same time that President Trump was signing three executive orders targeting drug cartels, violent crime, and violence against law enforcement officers. The President said he was directing Department of Justice and Homeland Security to undertake all necessary and lawful action to break the back of the criminal cartels, he was directing that a task force be formed to reduce violent crime, and finally that a plan be implemented to stop crimes against law enforcement officers.

“Today’s ceremony should be seen as a clear message to the gang members and drug dealers terrorizing innocent people: Your day is over,” said Trump. “A new era of justice begins, and it begins right now.”

Why this Matters: The protests continue from every major city and especially from those places where illegals and criminal aliens have been allowed to remain by order of President Obama. Our new President is beginning to clean up by targeting lawbreakers. For all our sakes, he needs to be successful!

How to Pray: Pray that the laws in our country will be re-instituted and crime rates will fall. Pray for law enforcement officers, that the good ones will have great success and those who shouldn’t be in law enforcement will get out. Pray that illegals who have broken the law will be found and expelled.

Continue to pray for our President’s safety, health, and ability to hear and follow God. Pray for our new Attorney General: for his success in upholding the law, and his discernment as he fills positions in the Justice Department.

Ps. 119:165 – Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
