Trump Solidifies Relationship with Israel

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was invited to meet with President Trump at the White House on Wednesday. At a joint press conference, Trump said his administration is committed to working with Israel, and that includes a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. He said it is the “parties themselves” who should directly negotiate such a deal. Trump also advised Netanyahu to hold back on construction of more settlements in Judea and Samaria.

Netanyahu said that Israel has no better ally than the U.S., and that the U.S. “has no better ally than Israel.” He also expressed admiration for Trump’s clarity and courage in confronting radical Islamic terrorism, and added, “Under your leadership, I believe we can reverse the rising tide of radical Islam.”

Trump also admitted that he hoped for peace in Israel, saying, “I’m looking at two-state, one-state, and I like the one that both parties like. … I can live with either one… I thought for a while the two-state [solution] looked to be the easier of the two, but honestly, if Bibi and the Palestinians, if Israel and the Palestinians are happy, I’m happy with the one they like the best.”

Why this Matters: There was a very chilly relationship between Obama and Netanyahu. It is certainly gratifying for Christians to now have a President committed to maintaining strong ties with Israel. One analyst suggested that Netanyahu was privately relieved to have more settlement construction off the table for now because that allays the pressure coming at him from both sides.

Labor Secretary Nominee Drops Out

Andy Puzder, Trump’s nominee to head the Labor Department, withdrew his name on Wednesday after a torrent of fake news and other accusations surfaced. Shortly after it was reported that he hired an undocumented housekeeper, four Republican Senators announced they were not going to support Puzder. He could only have lost two and still gotten a confirmation vote.

Why this Matters: The worst of the fake news involved allegations of abuse by his ex-wife on the Oprah show in the 1990s. However, she retracted the allegations and recently disavowed them to the Senate. The mainstream media conveniently left out the part where she retracted her statements.

How to Pray: Continue praying daily for Trump and his cabinet. Pray for the right people to be placed and confirmed.

Update on Oroville Dam

The evacuation order affecting 200,000 residents of California has been lifted after the near-breaking of the Oroville Dam. A series of storms are predicted in the coming days, but it is expected that some of the precipitation will be snow. Officials still consider the situation an emergency, but citizens are being allowed to return home. Some have chosen to stay in shelters and wait to see what happens. Thank God, this is very good news! Praise Him for his mercy!

Pennsylvania state police have arrested Jeffrey Sandusky, the son of Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, on charges of soliciting sex from children under age 16 and child pornography. The crimes were uncovered late in 2016, when a girl told her father that Sandusky had texted her repeatedly, asking for naked photos. After the father contacted police, other victims were discovered. Sandusky’s mother Dottie maintains her son and her husband are both innocent. Jerry Sandusky is currently in prison for child sexual abuse.

Praise God that this evil is being exposed and the sick people committing the acts are being found out. Pray that God continues to reveal sex offenders and pray He would put an end to child sex trafficking rings.

Brother of Kim Jung Un Murdered

Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of Kim Jung Un, dictator of North Korea, was murdered on Wednesday. He was at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Airport when a woman or women came at him with poison. Nam reported to airport employees that he had inhaled something that was making him sick. He went to the airport clinic and was transported to a hospital, but died en route. A woman carrying a Vietnamese travel document was later detained and arrested in connection with his murder.

Kim Jong-nam became estranged from his brother after making disparaging comments about him. Jong-nam also frequently traveled on fake passports, which may have angered his family. His death has not been publicized in North Korea.

Why this Matters: Many believe Kim Jong-nam was assassinated by North Korean operatives.

Pray for the people of North Korea and the Christians being martyred there. Pray for God’s comfort and that this evil empire would come to an end.

North Korea fired ballistic missiles last week, raising concern in the U.S. and at the UN. The UN Security Council condemned Saturday’s launch and the Trump administration promised to deal with North Korea very strongly. The UN called on its members to redouble their efforts to implement sanctions on North Korea. There have been six resolutions demanding an end to the North’s nuclear and ballistic missile activities. The latest sanctions imposed November 30 placed a cap on North Korea’s coal exports.

Why this Matters: The latest missile test is seen as an implicit challenge to President Trump. UN ambassador Nikki Haley released a statement asking all members of the Security Council to make it clear to the regime that the launches are unacceptable. The hope is for a peaceful solution. Economic sanctions are particularly hard on North Korea, whose economy is in shambles.

North Korea has a variety of missiles that threaten South Korean and Japan. The U.S has a huge military base in South Korea and one in Japan, with a total of 80,000 troops, plus their dependents. Pray for their safety.

Fake News: The Conspiracy
That could Ruin a Presidency

It’s becoming very obvious that every mainstream media outlet and the Washington establishment of both parties is trying to take down President Trump. Currently, the news is filled with the supposed connection between the Trump administration and the Russians. The New York Times ran a story (very similar to a story they ran just before the election) suggesting that Trump’s aides colluded with Russian operatives to take the election away from Hillary Clinton. Democrat politicians and Republican establishment types (i.e., Lindsey Graham and John McCain) join the chorus of people suggesting there’s something “troubling” going on here, and we must get to the bottom of it!

There’s only one problem: there is no evidence whatsoever for Russian hacks or collusion with Trump’s team.

The New York Times ran a headline that said “Trump Campaign Aides had Repeated Contacts with Russian Intelligence.” The source of the information is “four current and former American officials.” It sounded like a real story until you got to the third paragraph where they said there was no evidence of misdeeds.

During the Obama administration, a FISA court approved the wiretapping of Trump and his aides. That’s how calls were intercepted that supposedly show “repeated contact” between former Trump adviser Paul Manafort and senior Russian intelligence officials. Yet, according to that third paragraph of the story, “the records of those calls show no evidence of collusion in regards to hacking or the election.” This is what the FBI said in November. Yet, the media keeps repeating the lie, and will continue to do so, until people actually believe it.

A “deep state” or “shadow government” is another big problem for Mr. Trump. These are the people within the federal agencies who are leftovers from the Obama administration. They have vowed to resist anything Trump is trying to do and are every bit as dangerous as the document leakers (see yesterday’s Praying Citizen). Although every administration has had its problems with rats on the ship, this time we’ve reached an epidemic. One can only imagine how much more difficult the job of president has become when the most powerful part of your government is against you.

Michael Flynn was forced to resign because of leaks, not because of improper behavior. The media said there was a quid pro quo on calls between Flynn and Russian diplomats; in other words, there was a promise that if the Russians helped get Trump elected, the economic sanctions imposed by Obama would be removed. Interestingly, we don’t have the full transcript of those calls, so it impossible to know what really happened.

To make things worse, the headlines on Tuesday reported (breathlessly) that a Russian spy ship was spotted in international waters 30 miles off the coast of Connecticut! Last week, four Russian jets buzzed a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Black Sea! And, a Russian ground-based missile was deployed, which violates an arms treaty!

Except for the missile being deployed, this is all old hat for the Russians. It went on during the Obama administration, and has been going on since the Cold War. The U.S. and our allies do similar things.

Why this Matters: The near hysteria in the media and their attempt to make sensational headlines out of incomplete and inaccurate information is very troubling. However, Mr. Trump got elected despite the media and the Washington establishment. We cannot stop praying for him and we certainly cannot give into the propaganda machine by swallowing everything they say.

Please pray that God would bring everything into the light. May both the liars and the innocent be exposed.

Dan. 2:21 – And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.
