President takes his Message to the People

A crowd of 9,000 people gathered in Melbourne, FL on Saturday to see the President in a campaign-style rally. He was introduced by First Lady Melanie Trump, who opened the rally by reciting the “Lord’s prayer.”

The President began by reassuring the crowd that he was with them and understood their desires and would continue bringing jobs back to the country and increasing national security. He said he wanted to speak without the filter of the fake news. The President also said the GOP would soon submit a health care plan to replace “the disaster that is Obamacare.” He promised better healthcare at a much lower cost.

On national security, Trump said he would keep Islamic terrorists out of the country and renewed his promise to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. As far as his immigration order that was blocked in the courts, he said his administration would address that issue and not give up on it.

Building safe zones in Syria is something the President hopes to do instead of bringing more Syrian refugees into the U.S.

“You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this. Sweden. They took in large numbers. They’re having problems like they never thought possible. You look at what’s happening in Brussels. You look at what’s happening all over the world. Take a look at Nice. Take a look at Paris. We’ve allowed thousands and thousands of people into our country and there was no way to vet those people. There was no documentation. There was no nothing. So we’re going to keep our country safe.”

The comment about Sweden referred to an interview between Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Ami Horowitz about a film documenting violence committed by refugees in Sweden. There has been such a huge surge in rapes of Swedish women that the refugees who commit them are now called “rapeugees.” Sweden and Denmark have been termed the rape capitals of Europe. In those countries, 80 to 100 percent of the people say have have been sexually assaulted as adults. Muslim men consider it their right to assault women, which could explain the problem. In the UK, France, Germany, and Finland, the numbers are smaller: 60 to 79 percent of the people say they have been sexually assaulted.

Protesters gathered outside Saturday’s rally, and Leftists on social media tore into the First Lady after her opening of the rally. She was mocked for her accent, her Christianity, her use of a printed copy of the Lord’s Prayer, and called a “whore” and a “hostage.”

Why this Matters: Some people have complained that the President lied in his Thursday press conference and in the rally, and he has been noted to exaggerate on his accomplishments. Senator John McCain, also a Republican and former presidential candidate says of Trump’s attacks on the press, “This is how dictators get started,” referring to the fact that a free press is necessary to democracy.

Trump says the media often makes up sources. Is this true? We don’t know if they do or don’t, as they rarely name names. The sources are simply, “officials,” so it is Trump’s word against theirs. Next, the media claims he is lying about providing better and cheaper health care. We don’t know if he can or cannot until we see what is proposed and watch as it is implemented.

Finally, perhaps Trump’s most outlandish claim, according to the media, is that he probably won the popular vote as well as the electoral vote. According to people this editor follows, there may have been as many as 20 million votes stolen from Trump in the presidential election. We may find out the real numbers when the President launches an investigation, as he has said he will do.

How to Pray: For President Trump’s success, for him to find and place the right people in positions to ensure his conservative agenda is implemented. Pray that every evil deed will be exposed and that the truth in all matters will be brought to light. Pray for his health, safety, and humility.

Prov. 22:10 – Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Oroville Dam Decay Evident for Decades

The Department of Water Resources has been able to reduce outflows from Oroville Dam, which has structural problems that have threatened to cause its collapse. Officials said they would continue gradually decreasing the level until it is low enough to clear debris and turn the power plant back on.

Workers have been busy around the clock to fix erosion beneath the emergency spillway. Two sites are close to completion, while two others are from 20 percent to 30 percent completed. Oroville is the tallest dam in the U.S. and if it gives way, 200,000 Californians will be at risk.

Both Republican and Democrat governors have had the opportunity to fix failing infrastructure like the dam. Yet, the state has a $65 billion infrastructure investment deficit related to dams, waterways, airports, roads, bridges, seaports, and tunnels. California’s spending in those areas is down 83 percent from what it was 40 years ago.

The outlook for an improvement is grim. California state and local governments now owe $1.3 trillion for bonds, loans, pensions, etc., and face a budget deficit that grows by 7.42 percent each year.

Why this Matters: For years, environmental groups have warned that the dam needs reinforcing. Even President Obama’s $288 billion stimulus package didn’t touch the ailing structure. That money went to health care, education, and for aid to low-income workers and the unemployed. President Trump has talked about the sad state of our infrastructure.

How to Pray: That our lawmakers will follow through on funding projects like the dam, but at the same time cutting or trimming back on less important items to pay for them.

Proverbs 27:12 – The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

mccorveyNorma McCorvey, of
Roe v. Wade, Dies at 69

She was 22 years-old in 1973 when she became a historic figure as “Jane Roe” in the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

Norma McCorvey says of that time in her life that she was a very confused pregnant woman. And even though she fought to obtain a legal abortion, Norma never had it, but instead gave her baby girl up for adoption.

McCorvey later met God and became a pro-life activist, spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life. She died on Saturday in an assisted-living facility at age 69.

Thank God that Jesus can reach people like Norma! Pray for everyone in the Praying Citizen family who has people they love that are unsaved. Pray for opportunities for sharing the gospel and that the seed would find good soil.

Ez. 33:19 – And if a wicked person turns away from their wickedness and does what is just and right, they will live by doing so.
