Trump Names McMaster to Replace Flynn

On Monday, President Trump named Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, an expert in counter insurgency, to be the director of the White House’s National Security Council. He will replace Gen. Michael Flynn, who was asked to resign last week. The acting NSC chief, Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg will stay on as NSC chief of staff.

McMaster wrote the book Dereliction of Duty criticizing President Johnson and his decision to keep armed forces in Vietnam. White in the Army, McMaster specialized in predicting future threats and America’s ability to meet them.

Vice President Mike Pence returned home after speaking to NATO members, reaffirming the U.S. commitment to NATO and the European Union, and urging NATO members to start paying their fare share. Member nations are supposed to spend two percent of their GDP on defense, but only five countries do so: the U.S., Greece, the UK, Estonia, and Poland. Germany and Canada fall well below, at 1.19 percent and 0.99 percent, respectively.

Secretary of State Ross Tillerson and Secretary of Defense Mattis have both been in Europe, strengthening ties with U.S. allies. They are also asking that Russia honor its commitments to halt the violence in Eastern Ukraine. Mattis went to Iraq Monday on an unannounced visit. Iraqi security forces are working to retake the western half of Mosul, the last major ISIS stronghold. He told reporters that the U.S. does not plan to seize Iraqi oil.

Why this Matters: President Trump has said in the past that NATO is obsolete. However, he has reversed himself, now saying he is a “fan” of NATO. His concern remains that other countries aren’t carrying their weight. The U.S. pays for three-quarters of NATO’s funding.

How to Pray: Father, our President and his cabinet need Your help. Direct their paths and guide their steps. Protect them from evil and lead them into righteousness. Keep our troops safe and pester them with the Holy Spirit that they may know their need for Jesus and choose to follow Him.

GOP Lawmakers Facing Protests at Home

Republicans returning home for recess are finding protesters at town halls, activists waiting outside their offices, and marchers chasing them down. There is a concerted effort by “social justice warriors” to pressure lawmakers to preserve Obamacare, which the GOP has promised to repeal and replace.

The marches have taken on many different aspects of President Trump’s agenda. Last Thursday was “Day Without an Immigrant,” with rallies and marches nationwide. Dozens of employees who skipped work in order to participate were fired. Friday saw a “General Strike” in more than 100 cities. And on Saturday, while President Trump and 9,000 supporters held a rally in Melbourne, FL, a Muslim solidarity rally attracted 1,000 to the streets of New York. That rally included a Muslim call to prayer which claims, “Allah Akbar:” the god of Islam is greater than any other god. On Monday while most patriots celebrated Presidents’ Day, protesters filled the streets of America in “Not My President” rallies.

One organization behind the protests is Resistance Recess, which is funded by George Soros’ MoveOn.Org. It seeks to use the first recess of the 115th Congress, February 18-26, to communicate that Trump’s “hurtful agenda is unacceptable and politically toxic.” Events are planned all across the country and social justice warriors can enter their zip code to find a protest near their home, or create an event of their own.

San Diego Catholic Bishop Robert McElroy recently addressed an audience of “social justice warriors” telling them they must disrupt the President and not allow him to fulfill his campaign promises. He also urged them to resist the temptation to unite under the President, but rather oppose him at every turn.

Why this Matters: Some activists have made a career out of protesting, with George Soros and other “philanthropists” paying their salaries. President Obama got his start in politics as a community organizer, aka “abrasive agent to rub raw the resentments of the people of the community,” according to Chicago activist Saul Alinsky.

How to Pray: Pray that the financial backing for these protests dries up and the people who get sucked in begin to tire of them. Pray that Christians will remain faithful to the Lord and discern and resist Satan’s efforts to discourage them. Cry out to God because He hears us!

Psalm 20:7-8 – Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen:
but we are risen, and stand upright.

London Hosts “Modest Fashion Week”

Muslim garments and hijab were featured in an inaugural fashion event geared not only at promoting products, but also at bashing populism and “Donald Trump’s values.” The official sponsor of the event, Illamasqua, promised they would never knowingly sell their products to Trump supporters. Customers must sign an “anti-fascism” pledge before being allowed to purchase goods.

According to the event founder, the fastest growing global consumer is a Muslim, and by 2030, one in three people will be a follower of Islam. A dedicated Muslim prayer room was available to attendees of the event.

The Debenhams department stores will become the first major outlet in the UK to sell the hijab (head covering).

Why this Matters: Indonesia is the largest Muslim-populated country in the world with 205 million out of 255 million total population. There are 1.7 billion Muslims worldwide and the fashion market is estimated at $224 billion.

Pray for America to able to retain our Christian culture, or whatever of it still exists. Pray our President will use wisdom as he retools the immigration program.

Ps. 33:12 – Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom
he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
