House IT Guys Stole Computers, Took $100K from Iraqi Politician

Remember Imran Awan? He and his two brothers were caught two weeks ago stealing computer hardware from the House of Representatives and had hacked high level intelligence information, some related to military operations and the war on terror. The Pakistani brothers were working for several Democrats in the House and each was paid a salary of $160,000 per year.

Now it has come out that the brothers also accepted a “loan” of $100,000 from an Iraqi politician named Dr. Ali al-Attar. They hid the money by sending it through numerous financial transactions.

Imran Awan and his brothers Abid and Jamal are now under criminal investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police. They are suspected of improperly accessing information and stealing congressional property. They worked for Debbie Wasserman-Scultz, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and several other Democrats, including members of the intelligence, foreign affairs, and homeland security committees. These positions afforded them access to sensitive intelligence-related documents. Investigators have determined that congressional information was being copied to an off-site server.

Soon after the men began working for Congress a decade ago, their wives were hired and received congressional paychecks of $160,000 also. By 2009, the family was also running a full-time car dealership in Virginia. Abid Awan contributed the $250,000 in startup cash and ran the day-to-day operations. The company was called Cars International A, LLC, and dubbed “CIA” in court documents.

Enter Rao Abbas. He was owed money by the dealership and threatened to sue. Soon afterward, he showed up on the congressional payroll and received $250,000. The $100,000 loan from the Iraqi politician came as the dealership continued to rack up debt. The “CIA” now owes nearly $1 million to its creditors.

Why this Matters: There is a lot more to the story, including more lawsuits, a bankruptcy, and allegations from a former business partner that the Iraqi Doctor who loaned the money doesn’t exist. The youngest of the brothers began working for the House Democrats when he was 20 years old, and paid $160,000 a year. This may be a relatively “harmless” crime of stealing money and funneling cash, but it could also be the the start of uncovering the real culprits behind the DNC hacks.

Another question being asked by some is: Are these Iraqi men part of a spy ring partially responsible for the death of Navy SEAL William Ryan Owens? SEAL Team 6 raided an al Qaeda outpost shortly after President Trump’s inauguration. Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said there were female fighters who “ran to pre-established positions as though they had trained to be ready and trained to be combatants and engaged with us.” Davis said it was obvious that the al Qaeda fighters had been expecting them.

Chief Special Warfare Operator William Ryan Owens was killed in the heavy fire that ensued. Non-combatants also died in the raid, including the 8-year-old daughter of Anwar al-Awlaki. Fourteen al Qaeda fighters were also killed.

How to Pray: That the truth of the matter will be exposed. Pray for William Ryan Owens’ family and his friends, that the Lord will help them grieve and recover. Pray for the Father’s protection over the U.S. troops fighting in the Middle East.

Prov. 28:28 – When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish,
the righteous increase.

Deadline Looms For Standing Rock Dakota Access Pipeline Protesters To Vacate Camp

Dakota Pipeline Protests End in Flames

Protesters at the Dakota Access pipeline construction site set their camp on fire on Wednesday as part of a ceremony marking the end of their outpost on federal land.

Some of the demonstrators had been there for six months, hoping to stop the final construction stages of an oil pipeline that extends from Canada to Illinois. The protesters left in stages, some Wednesday morning, and about 150 others waited until the end of the day. They marched arm-in-arm out of the camp and down the highway, singing and playing drums.

Several dozens were told to leave and did not; nine of them were arrested. Police shut down the remaining campsites, although they had to stop at the end of the day and 50 to 75 people still remained. The camps were a potential health hazard and could be soon underwater due to spring flooding.

The state of North Dakota spent about $33 million to protect the pipeline. President Obama stopped the progress of the pipeline, but Trump reversed the decision. Drilling continues for another 30 to 40 days; the pipeline will be put to use a few weeks after that.

The protest camp had been set up at the edge of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe reservation near Cannonball, North Dakota. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers set an evacuation deadline of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, and the Governor set up a travel assistance center to provide water, snacks, a food voucher, a personal hygiene kit, a health and wellness assessment, hotel lodging for one night, a taxi voucher to the bus terminal and bus fare for a return trip home.

Craig Stevens, spokesman for the MAIN Coalition of agriculture, business and labor interests, said the group understands “the passions that individuals on all sides of the pipeline discussion feel” and hopes that protesters’ voices “will continue to be heard through other peaceful channels and in court.”

Why this Matters: Protesters claimed the underground pipeline project could contaminate the water supply, and Native Americans said it interfered with ancient burial grounds. The Army Corps of Engineers has determined there is no danger from the pipeline.

Thank God for the end to these protests.

NASA Discover Four Planets

Astronomers from NASA and the European Southern Observatory announced on Wednesday the discovery of four planets that are similar in size to Earth–three of which may contain water and be able sustain life. The planets are orbiting a star that is about 40 light-years away. The planets were discovered using telescopes based on Earth and in space. The dwarf red star they orbit is known as Trappist-1.

Three other planets orbiting the same star were discovered about a year ago. They are called “exoplanets,” a term used to designate any planet that orbits a star outside the solar system.
