Trump’s Latest Executive Order Dismantles Climate Regulations

President Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday to dismantle President Obama’s signature climate regulation. This new “energy independence” directive rolls back regulations that have killed the coal industry in the U.S. and is projected to save 127,000 coal jobs.

The President, surrounded by out-of-work coal miners, announced, “We are ending theft of American prosperity and rebuilding our beloved country.”

The Ford Company announced it will invest $1.2 billion in three Michigan facilities to prepare for production of the all-new Ranger and Bronco.

  • Consumer Confidence Riding High

Consumer confidence is at a 16-year high. It reached 125.6 in March, up from 116.1 in February–even though economists had expected a decline in March to 114.1.

  • Donna Brazile Admits Cheating

Following one of the Clinton/Trump debates, Donna Brazile, former acting chairman of the Democratic National Committee, was accused of feeding questions to Hillary prior to the event.

She staunchly denied it during an interview with Fox News, saying, “As a Christian woman, I understand persecution, but I will not sit here and be persecuted,” and, “Your information is totally false.”

Brazile wrote an essay that was published last week saying she will forever regret her decision to leak the questions to the Clinton campaign before the debate. However, she did not apologize, saying that her job was to make Democrat candidates look good.

  • One-Page Obamacare Repeal Bill

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) has filed a one-line bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act. Repealing Obamacare is something conservative groups such as The Heritage Foundation and the House Freedom Caucus have been hoping for–even before reforms to the existing bill are crafted.

The bill reads, “Effective as of December 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148) is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.”

The bill gives Congress until the end of the year to replace Obamacare and provide for any consequences of the repeal.

Praise God for all the good news: for the miners who will be going back to work, for hope and thanksgiving to flood the hearts of coal families in West Virginia and Kentucky, and car makers in Michigan! Praise God for Donna Brazile’s confession, and may the Lord convict her to repent. Pray that Paul Ryan and the House GOP will make good decisions about healthcare.

Democrats Call on Nunes to Resign

House Democrats are calling for Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, to step down. Last week, Nunes revealed to the President, and then made public, his belief that members of the Trump team had been victims of “incidental surveillance” by U.S. agencies. Nunes would not reveal his source of the information, even to members of the committee.

Nunes argued he had to review classified, executive branch documents while at a secure facility at the White House. He said the reports had not been provided to Congress and could not be transported to the secure facilities used by the House intelligence committee. Nunes was signed into the White House grounds, but would not give specifics on who signed him in. He did suggest that the President’s aides were not aware of his actions.

Nunes came under fire from Democrats who say he is biased and incapable of leading a credible investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the presidential election. Democrats Adam Schiff (CA) and Charles Schumer (NY) are calling for Nunes’ resignation. Rep. Walter Jones (NC) has become the first Republican to call for him to step down.

On Tuesday, Nunes canceled his committee meeting in which former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who was fired by Trump in January, was expected to testify about communications between former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and a Russian ambassador. The content of Flynn’s conversation was illegally reported to the public.

FBI Director Comey testified before the committee last week, saying the bureau was investigating possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. He also rejected the idea that Trump was being surveilled by national intelligence agencies.

Nunes said because there was much Comey couldn’t say publicly, next time he would hear from Comey and NSA Director Mike Rogers privately.

Why this Matters: President Trump seems to have had enough of these allegations. He tweeted that Hillary Clinton’s ties to Russia ought to be investigated instead of him.

Clinton was Secretary of State when she gave U.S. approval to a deal allowing Russia to purchase a major share of a Canadian uranium company. Uranium is a key element in nuclear bombs.

The day the acquisition was announced, Bill Clinton received $500,000 from a Russian investment bank for giving a speech in Moscow. Then, as Russia gradually assumed control of the firm Uranium One, the Clintons received $2.35 million for their charity from Canadian mining interests. The Clintons did not disclose these donations as is required by law.

How to Pray: Father, thank You for revealing the secrets of those who think they are above the law. We pray for Chairman Nunes and the Committee as they sort through the mess and look for the truth. Guide our President and his team into right paths and good ways. Thank You for this nation. We pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.

Prov. 29:2 – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
