Facebook Killer Takes Own Life

Steve-Stephens

For two days, authorities across the country scrambled to find Steve Stephens, the “Facebook killer” who randomly shot an elderly man on Easter. Robert Godwin, 74, had shared a meal with his family, then was gunned down while collecting cans on the side of the road.

Stephens posted a video of the shooting on Facebook.

The police caught up with Stephens, a Cleveland, Ohio, resident and then chased him to Pennsylvania. When Stephens realized he was cornered, he killed himself.

Stephens had financial troubles and a history of gambling, but blamed his girlfriend for his problems.

The media incorrectly reported that the killing was live-streamed and that there were 14 or 15 other killings. Praying Citizens regrets relaying those details.

Pray for Godwin’s family for comfort and that the one daughter who has not been able to forgive Stephens will be able to do so.

Muslim Shooter Kills Four in California

Three people were killed on Tuesday after a man in Fresno went on a shooting rampage. The same man killed a security guard last week. The 39-year-old suspect is Kori Ali Muhammad. He is facing four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

When officers apprehended Muhammad, he dove to the ground and yelled “Allau Akbar.”

Why this Matters: The police chief of Fresno is calling it a “random act of violence” and said that it’s too soon to determine if the shootings involved terrorism.

Federal authorities have open investigations into radical Islam in all 50 states. Homeland Security is warning that radicalized Muslims in the U.S. are plotting “each and every day” to attack us.

How to Pray: Thank God for the law enforcement officers and immigration officials who work to keep us safe. Pray that they have all the resources they need to do their jobs.

President Announces Exec Order Regarding H-1B Visas

The President visited Snap-on Tools in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Tuesday and announced a new executive ordering regarding H-1B visas. These are being used by companies to hire cheap labor. The visas are supposed to be awarded to highest-skilled immigrants, but U.S. firms have been abusing the system in order to save money.

Why this Matters: The President is being criticized because as a businessman, he also improperly used H-1B visas. One of Trump’s campaign promises was to fix the system because he knows where the problems are.

How to Pray: For jobs and a strong economy. Pray Americans will remember that God is the one who provides for all of our needs.

Russia Takes Credit for Disabling U.S. Ship

A propaganda report from Moscow released on Tuesday said the technology Russia possesses could render U.S. planes, ships and missiles useless.

The same report claims a Russian war plane flew several times around the USS Donald Cook when it was sailing in the Black Sea and was able to disable its systems. Although the incident was reported by the U.S. Navy, there was no mention of disabled systems.

North Korea promises to continue missile testing, in spite of its failed missile launch on Saturday. The USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group will reach the area on April 25. That’s the day North Korea celebrates the founding of its military.

The U.S. is also sending the USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Nimitz to the Sea of Japan next week. Both Russia and China have sent spy ships to monitor these aircraft carriers.

Why this Matters: Sending our aircraft carriers is a show of force, not necessarily a threat. Any overt operation against North Korea would likely involve long-range bombers and cruise missiles.

How to Pray: Pray for peace to prevail. Pray for Christians to remember that no matter what is happening, the Lord holds our futures.

Ps. 4:8 – I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
