Media Frenzy in Aftermath of Comey’s Firing

The mainstream media has spent the last two days regurgitating and clouding with suspicion the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey. The goal is clear: to de-legitimize the Trump presidency, compare him to Nixon, find a Watergate-scandal, and get Trump removed as president.
  • On Thursday, the Washington Post put out a story saying Comey was asking for more money from the Justice Department to investigate Trump and his collusion with the Russians, therefore Trump fired him. The Post did not name its source, but a Justice Department spokeswoman said the report was false.
  • When questioned about this by a Senate Subcommittee, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe said that the agency did have sufficient resources and that he was unaware of any request by Comey for more. Several news outlets later clarified that, saying Comey wanted more focus on the investigation and the allocation of more resources. However, that report has not been substantiated by Comey or by the Justice Department.
  • The Democrats are crying foul–despite the fact that most of them were publicly demanding that Comey be fired last fall. Now they are saying the Trump didn’t have the right to fire Comey, and that an independent prosecutor should be hired to investigate Trump.
  • Actress Rosie O’Donnell was also pulled into the mix. She had tweeted on December 20, 2016, “FIRE COMEY,” suggesting it was Comey’s reopening of the Clinton investigation that caused Clinton to lose the election. Trump tweeted on Thursday, “We finally agree on something Rosie,” followed by a link to her original tweet.
Why this Matters: There still is no evidence of collusion with the Russians, even after months of investigation.

How to Pray: Father, give President Trump the right person to replace Comey, and may he do it swiftly. If there is any evidence of wrongdoing on any side, may it come forth. Thank You for caring about the affairs that affect your children.
Matt. 10:29-31 – Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
