Trump Calls out NATO, Germany for Hypocrisy

This week Donald Trump met with NATO members in Brussels and exposed the hypocrisy of non-compliant NATO countries, particularly Germany. He also questioned the need for NATO, which was formed after World War 2 to keep the Russians out of Europe, keep American military in Europe, and keep Germany from becoming a problem again. NATO nations are supposed to spend two percent of their GDP on defense; America is supposed to spend four percent. But according to the President, we spend 4.2 percent, which is $685 billion.

Other US presidents have acknowledged the fact but none were bold enough to do anything about it.

On Wednesday, Trump recognized the fact that Germany is not only paying just 1.2 percent of GDP, but is also getting the majority of their energy from Russia–the “enemy.” Trump tweeted:

“What good is NATO if Germany is paying Russia billions of dollars for gas and energy? Why are there only 5 out of 29 countries that have met their commitment? The U.S. is paying for Europe’s protection, then loses billions on Trade. Must pay 2% of GDP IMMEDIATELY, not by 2025.”

Russian gas has become cheaper and more reliable than US energy exports, and Russian energy firms are overtaking US rivals in the European market. In May, the Trump administration threatened to impose sanctions against German companies who worked to construct the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Trump also warned German Chancellor Merkel that the US could retaliate with trade measures.

Trump called it “sad” that Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia worth billions of dollars while the US is supposed to be guarding against Russia.

The media filmed part of the meeting between Trump and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He told Trump that countries have only just started adding to their military “because of your leadership.”

Another exchange went like this,

  • Trump: But how can you be together when a country is getting its energy from the person you want protection against or from the group that you want protection?
  • Stoltenberg: Because we understand that when we stand together, also in dealing with Russia, we are stronger. I think what we have seen is that,
  • Trump: No, you’re just making Russia richer. You’re not dealing with Russia. You’re making Russia richer.

In a obvious conflict of interest, former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder sits on the board of Nord Stream 2.

Why this Matters: NATO has accomplished its mission, according to what the New York Times and the Democrats were saying five years ago. Trump agrees. He wants Europe to start fending for themselves. But now that it’s Trump saying it, they claim that Trump is “destroying world diplomatic alliances.”

The Lies and Outrages Keep Coming

Disgraced former FBI lawyer Lisa Page was supposed to appear before Congress on Wednesday, but didn’t show up. Her lawyer said she didn’t have a chance to review documents at the FBI on Tuesday. However, according to lawmakers, she actually did review them. She has now been given three options: show up to a public hearing on Thursday, attend a closed-door deposition on Friday, or face contempt of Congress with proceedings beginning Friday morning.

Page’s lover, FBI agent Peter Strzok, revealed in a message to her that he got a copy of the phony Trump dossier from Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS. Simpson brokered the deal to create the dossier and arranged payments to the parties via Perkins Coie law firm. Perkins Coie funneled money from Hillary Clinton’s campaign to Fusion GPS to pay for the dossier.

  • In his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Glenn Simpson said that he never communicated with the FBI.
  • The “dossier” is a piece of fiction that was used to get warrants to spy on the Trump campaign and as a basis for the Trump-Russia collusion investigation.
The proof of that exchange between Strzok and Page about the dossier was exposed in the Inspector General’s report.

Strzok is supposed to testify Thursday before the House during a joint session of the Oversight and Judiciary committees. Lawmakers want to know why he did not immediately investigate when notified that classified emails were found on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner. Weiner and his wife, Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin, shared the computer and she also stored classified documents on it.

It may be that Strzok’s profound political bias against Trump may have stopped him from examining the laptop. He wouldn’t have wanted to find evidence against Hillary.

Why this Matters: Some are calling the subpoenas to Strzok and Page “the end game,” saying that giving testimony to Congress means it’s over. The Inspector General and his staff of 470 lawyers are finished with their investigation into the investigation. All that remains are the arrests…

Pro-Abortion Left’s Moves to Block Kavanaugh

FBI Deputy Director Rosenstein is trying to delay the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, Trump nominee to the Supreme Court. According to the New York Times, Rosenstein has appointed three DoJ lawyers from each of the 93 offices to scrub Brett Kavanaugh’s 300 rulings for controversial statements. He told them it might take several weeks.

Democrats are focused on blocking Kavanaugh’s appointment by firing up their base with fears that if confirmed, the Roe v. Wade ruling that made abortion lawful will be overturned.

  • Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) tweeted, “A vote for Judge Kavanaugh is a vote to allow five men on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, criminalize abortion in America, and roll back the progress we’ve made…”
  • Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) told an audience he will sue if the Supreme Court acts to roll back Roe v. Wade.
  • Cynthia Nixon, actress, lesbian, and candidate for governor (NY) tweeted, “With Donald Trump’s pick for #SCOTUS threatening to reverse #RoevWade, it’s more important than ever to fight back and enshrine abortion and access to contraception.”
  • Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) tweeted, “The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will threaten the lives of millions Americans for decades to come and will morph our Supreme Court into a political arm of the right-wing Republican Party.”
  • Comedian Michelle Wolf, who has a new show on Netflix, dressed up in flag costume for July 4th and led the crowd in pro-abortion cheers. She said, “Look, access to abortion is good and important. Some people say abortion is ‘killing a baby.’ It’s not. It’s stopping a baby from happening.”

Even the Yale Law community joined in, publishing a letter signed by 200+ students, alumni and faculty that claims Kavanaugh’s nomination “presents an emergency” for safety, freedom and the future of the country. They called him a threat and said his confirmation “will lead to many people’s deaths.”

The official Law School statement, however, praised Kavanaugh for his accomplishments. Kavanaugh will need a simple majority of the Senate to approve his confirmation, which looks likely at this point.

Why this Matters: So glad to see the baby-murdering side having a melt-down. Hopefully, that means Kavanaugh is dependably pro-life!

Update on Jim Jordan: 14 former OSU wrestlers issued a statement of support, rebutting accusations that Jordan ignored claims of sexual abuse while serving as assistant coach. The wrestlers describe Jordan as a man of honesty and integrity who stood up for his athletes.

Meanwhile, CNN is contacting all 100+ former Jordan staffers and interns, hoping to find real or invented accusations.

Update on the Thai soccer team: Every member of the Thai soccer team and their coach were rescued after being trapped in an underground cave for 18 days.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla is said to be in a “bizarre public spat” with the Thai rescue chief. Musk said he was developing an “escape pod” to aid in the recovery effort, but the rescue squad turned him down. In response, Musk said the head official was “not the subject matter expert,” and had been inaccurately described as a rescue chief. Instead, he should be called the “former” Thai provincial governor.

Narongsak Osatanakorn, the head of the joint command center coordinating the rescue, said Musk’s mini submarine would not have been practical.

Praise the Lord for the successful rescue!

Pray for everyone who is under attack by the Left: Jim Jordan, Brett Kavanaugh and their families, plus the President and lawmakers who are trying to do right. May God protect them from harm. Pray for truth to be exposed and the guilty to be removed and put away.

1 Tim. 2:1-4 – I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
