Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in bullying stance faces GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski
Friday morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee met to take the vote on advancing the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the full Senate for a vote. Reports from Townhall media on Thursday night were that Kavanaugh had the GOP votes needed, and would likely get extra backing from several Democrats.
But something happened.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) was captured in a photo intimidating Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in the hallway. Sen. Jeff Flake was likewise corralled in a side room by several Democrat Senators.
What followed went something like this:
1. Chairman Grassley (R-IA) gaveled the meeting to order and Senator Flake whispered something to Grassley in passing before taking his seat. Grassley announced, “As a point of personal privilege, I’m going to invite Senator Flake to speak. Normally we would start the vote right now.”
Most Democrats hadn’t even taken their seats yet. Flake said,
“I’ve been speaking to the other side and I think it would be proper to delay the floor vote for up to but not more than one week to allow the FBI to conduct an investigation.”I will vote to advance the vote to the floor with that understanding.”
2. Grassley immediately called the roll even though half the Democrats were still not seated. Sen. Feinstein and her fellows were confused. She grabbed Grassley’s arm and asked, “What are we voting on? Can we have a description?”
He raised his voice and announced, “We are voting on the motion to report the nomination to the floor. Call the role!”
Still confused, Feinstein replied, “But that’s not my understanding.”
Flake answered her, “Well my understanding is the deal that the Democrats would accept a one week investigation limited in time and scope.”
As Feinstein began to argue, Grassley hurriedly stated, “We’ll decide that, and if there’s any further discussion, we’ll have it after the roll. CALL THE ROLL!”
3. Confusion remained as the roll (vote) was taken, which came out 11 to 10 in favor of advancing the candidate. Senator Graham, who became a hero to Conservatives when he blasted the Democrats during testimony on Thursday, said “I love this Committee but we’re not the majority leader. Senator Flake has said what it would take for him to support the vote, but it really doesn’t matter what we say here because it’s up to Schumer and McConnell.”
In further back-and-forth discussion Flake reiterated that he would only be comfortable moving forward after more FBI investigation, and added: “It may not take them a week.”
4. President Trump later issued a statement saying he will order an FBI investigation.
5. And then, in a surprising move, Senate Majority Senator McConnell, who is in charge of the next step, declared the confirmation process will go forward during the FBI’s investigation. The Democrats were hoping that their continual delays would push the vote past the midterm elections, where they are counting on retaking the Senate. A Democrat victory would mean the end of “Justice” Kavanaugh.
Here’s what McConnell said:
“I’m pleased to announce that all 51 Republican members of the Senate support the motion to proceed to the nomination.”
“The Committee has also thoroughly investigated the last-minute allegations that have been brought forward. The evidence that has been produced either fails to corroborate these accusations or in fact supports Judge
Kavanaugh’s unequivocal denial.”
Why this Matters: God is our Rock. He is our refuge. He hates deception, lying, and theft. The battle is the Lord’s, and we are called to pray and contend for our faith–which includes the desire to live under godly government. At times like these, it is no small thing to keep our faith strong and not fall into despair.
That being said, Q linked the confirmation of Kavanaugh (which Q said is a done deal) to an upcoming test of the Emergency Broadcast System by President Trump–suggesting that both will take place on the same day. When that happens, all Americans will receive a “test” EBS message from Donald Trump on their cell phones.
The President also issued a reminder last month to be prepared. This is not fear-mongering, but wisdom. Have a few bottles of water on hand and non-perishable food. A nasty political storm is upon us.
How to Pray: For the safety and health of all involved. For the Judge and his family who have received numerous death threats, that they will dig deeper into the Lord Jesus. Pray that when guilty high-level people are arrested, Americans of all political stripes will be able to handle their outrage peacefully. Pray that groups like Antifa, paid-for by George Soros, will fail in their evil intent, and fall into their own pits.
Zech. 5:4 – I will bring [the curse] forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
