Muslim Terrorists Kill 290, Wound 500 others

Christian churches and hotels in Colombo, Sri Lanka–a tiny Island off the southern tip of India–were hit by multiple suicide bombers on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning in Colombo, Sri Lanka, multiple suicide bombers attacked three churches and three hotels. As many as 290 people have died and 500 or more were wounded. This was the deadliest violence in the tiny democratic country since the end of its civil war, 26 years ago. Among those killed were at least 27 foreigners, including two Americans.

Ten days ago, Sri Lanka police chief issued a nationwide alert after they learned that suicide bombers planned to attack prominent churches. The telecommun-ications minister tweeted, “Some intelligence officers were aware of this incident. Therefore there was a delay in action. Serious action needs to be taken as to why this warning was ignored.”

Christians represent just 7 percent of Sri Lanka’s 21 million population.

• Muslim extremist Insan Setiawan was behind the attack on the Shangri-La Hotel. Police raided his copper factory on Monday and arrested 13 people. Setiawan’s wife was one of the bombers. She had her two children with her when she detonated her suicide vest. Another bomber was Setiawan’s brother. His father, a youth, and several women were among those arrested.
• Another person identified in the attacks is Moulvi Zahran Hashim, a Muslim cleric. He has many lectures online and on YouTube.

Below is a centrist Muslim cleric, Imam Tawhidi, who has pointed out the insanity of suicide bombings.

Sri Lankan authorities turned off most social media after the bombings—believing American internet companies do not adequately control harmful content. They also wanted to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Why this Matters: There is a stark contrast between the coverage of this massacre versus the attacks on the New Zealand mosques. Hillary and Obama both took pains to not mention the word “Christians” in their tweets, calling victims “Easter worshippers.”

Pray for the victims’ families and for the speedy healing of the wounded. May God forgive these attackers!

HUD’s New Ruling Evicts Illegals

HUD Secretary Ben Carson announced a new rule that limits taxpayer-funded housing for US citizens only. On Thursday, Carson tweeted,

“Thanks to @realDonaldTrump’s leadership, we are putting America’s most vulnerable first. Our nation faces affordable housing challenges and hundreds of thousands of citizens are waiting for many years on waitlists to get housing assistance.”

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Carson explained,

“We need to make certain our scarce public resources help those who are legally entitled to it. Given the overwhelming demand for our programs, fairness requires that we devote ourselves to legal residents who have been waiting, some for many years, for access to affordable housing.”

• There are about 25,000 households in public housing where the home is “mixed,” meaning at least one family member is a citizen, while the others are illegals. In such cases, the assistance is prorated to cover only eligible inhabitants.
• The majority of these “mixed-status” families are in Texas, New York, and California.
• The proposal would evict illegal family members from public housing, rather than “adjusting” benefits for citizens.
• The rule was sent to Congress for a 15-day review period. It will then be made available for public comment before it can move forward.

Section 214 of the Housing and Community Development Act prohibits non-citizens from obtaining financial assistance. Previously, illegals have been able to scam the system by living with family members who are U.S. citizens and receive subsidized housing.

HUD intends to roll out a proposal over the next few weeks that prohibits any illegal immigrant from residing in subsidized housing, even if they are not the direct recipient of the benefit. Families will have to either comply with the new rule, or move out of the residence.

Why this Matter: As compassionate people, we don’t want to see people evicted, yet laws should be followed. Turning off the supply of HUD funds may help deter the flow of illegals, which could reach 100,000 by the end of 2019.

How to Pray: For God to supply answers for our immigration problems. Pray for Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who is working on policies changes. Also pray for the Supreme Court, dealing with a question about the 2020 census. Liberals and progressives do not want it to have a question qualifying the respondent as a US citizen, while conservatives insist on it. The census is used to determine congressional seats and the allocation of federal funding.
