“The Hardest Thing I Have to Do”

“Much harder than the witch hunt is signing letters to parents of soldiers who have been killed… Mothers and wives jumping on that coffin and crying desperately…There is a time and a place [for war], and this is a time to stop.”

—President Trump, on the pullout from Syria

This week President Trump ordered 30-50 troops (several hundred soldiers) withdrawn from the Syrian border with Turkey. After the announcement, President Erdogan of Turkey immediately began a military incursion into Northeast Syria. He hit hard against Kurdish fighters, part of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who have been allied with US military in battling ISIS. Erdogan says they are allied with terror insurgents inside Turkey.

US military has been working with coalition forces to decimate ISIS. By June, ISIS had lost all of their territory and the Islamic caliphate was declared defeated. And even though getting out of “endless foreign wars” was one of Trump’s campaign promises, few in Washington are happy about the latest decision–including Senator Lindsey Graham.

Graham said he believes ISIS will return and Assad/Iran will grow stronger to the detriment of the US, Israel, and the world. “Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria attacking one of America’s most reliable allies–the Kurds–is a nightmare for the US and Israel,” he tweeted.

The President gave a press conference explaining his decision after the pullout, and Turkey’s subsequent invasion of Syria. He said:

  • “This morning, Turkey, a NATO member, invaded Syria. The United States does not endorse this attack and has made it clear to Turkey that this operation is a bad idea.
  • “There are no American soldiers in the area. From the first day I entered the political arena, I made it clear I did not want to fight these endless, senseless wars — especially those that don’t benefit the United States.
  • “Turkey has committed to protecting civilians, protecting religious minorities, including Christians, and ensuring no humanitarian crisis takes place — and we will hold them to this commitment.
  • “In addition, Turkey is now responsible for ensuring all ISIS fighters being held captive remain in prison and that ISIS does not reconstitute in any way, shape, or form.
  • “We expect Turkey to abide by all of its commitments, and we continue to closely monitor the situation.”

If Turkey Behaves “Off Limits”

President Trump warned President Erdogan (pictured, right):

“If Turkey does anything that I consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the economy of Turkey. They must watch over the captured ISIS fighters and families (tens of thousands). It is now time for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory.”

More from President Trump:

  • The Kurds were guarding captured ISIS fighters—nationals from Germany, UK and France. If they escape, the President believes they will return to those countries, who should have taken responsibility for them to begin with.
  • Although ISIS no longer controls territory, new fighters continue to crop up and now it will be Turkey’s job to deal with them
  • We were supposed to be in Syria for 30 days, but we’ve been there for 10 years
The US has spent 8 trillion dollars fighting and policing in the Middle East

Why this Matters: Analysts such as Col. Douglas MacGregor say that US policy has not changed, and President Trump is injecting strategy back into policy. He
believes Syrian Kurds will probably end up siding with the Syrian government, something Russia, Turkey and the US have been urging them to do. He says that the US and Israel will both benefit from our withdrawal.

Pray for the Christians in the area, that Erdogan will do the right thing, and for stability for all.

Impeachment: Yeah or Nah?

Fox News is promoting a new poll that show 51% of respondents want President Trump impeached. What they didn’t say is that the poll oversampled Democrats by 14 points. This trickery is sad but not surprising since Fox was purchased by Disney. They also wrongly predicted a Hillary victory in 2016.

  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told her constituents regarding impeachment: “I think the whole thing is boring. He should have been impeached a long time ago… I’m over it.”
  • AOC’s next crusade is wiping out the prison system because, as she says, humans don’t belong in cages. “Mass incarceration is our American reality. It is a system whose logic evolved from the same lineage as Jim Crow, American apartheid, & slavery,” she tweeted. “To end it, we have to change. That means we need to have a real conversation about decarceration & prison abolition in this country.”

Other News:

UN out of funds – President Trump has always insisted that members of NATO and the UN should pay their own way instead of allowing the US to pay the bills.

  • NATO members have responded and funded $100 billion more for defense, according to the General Secretary.
  • Not so for the UN, which is currently running a deficit of $230 million and will run out of money at the end of October. The U.S. pays 22 percent of their operating budget, which is about $5.4 billion.

Investigations Intensify – Attorney General Barr visited US attorneys offices at the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York on Wednesday. The SDNY is the office that investigated Anthony Weiner and took the laptop he shared with his wife and Hillary’s top aide, Huma Abedin. It contained evidence of Hillary’s “crime against children.”

  • New: According to documents released on Wednesday by a member of Ukraine’s parliament, investigations into Hunter Biden, Burisma Holdings, and Joe Biden began in February, months prior to Trump’s call with Ukraine President Zelensky. Previously, it was reported there was no investigation.
  • New: Same documents show Joe Biden was paid $900,000 for lobbying by Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings. That is in addition to $200,000 per month Burisma paid to Hunter, and millions paid to his firm Rosemont Seneca Partners.

China Loses US Port – A Chinese Communist company made a deal under the Obama administration in 2012 to control a terminal at the Port of Long Beach for 40 years. The Trump administration undertook a national security review, which forced the Chinese to sell. An Australian firm paid $1.78 billion to buy it.

China has ports in Greece, Italy, Spain and Africa, and has forced those countries to adopt China’s position on key international issues.

Why this Matters: In these times of extreme lies, corruption, and wickedness, we have to decide who to believe. The enemy comes with doom, gloom and hopelessness, while our Father offers mercy, freedom, and lasting peace.

How to Pray: Father, gives us a sense of awe as we consider the great cloud of witnesses, watching and waiting for your salvation. Restore our nation and bring revival to our land. May Jesus receive the glory and honor and praise. Amen.

Mark 9:23 – Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
