Adam Schiff’s Kangaroo Court

Things are not going so well for the impeachment crowd. The first Russia-collusion impeachment path led nowhere. Secretly recording the President in order to catch him saying something that would prove he is unfit to hold office under the 25th Amendment—which was only meant to cover presidents who suffered incapacitating injuries—also failed. Now it’s the phone call with Ukraine.

Rep. Adam Schiff continues to work behind closed doors to investigate the President. Speaker Pelosi announced last week there would be no formal House vote on impeachment, although inquiries would continue.

  • Schiff subpoenaed witnesses but conceals the proceedings from GOP lawmakers.
  • He withholds the transcripts, but releases portions that appear to implicate the President and his administration.
  • Schiff and his staff have secretly met with whistleblowers and witnesses, and later lied about it.
  • Schiff’s aide met with acting US Ambassador to Ukraine, Bill Taylor. This took place on a trip to Ukraine—paid for by Burisma—just 12 days after the whistleblower complaint about Trump’s call with Zelensky was filed. Taylor himself has long, deep ties to The Atlantic Council, which is funded by and works in partnership with Burisma.

Reports coming out of Ukraine say that 20 or more trucks have been carting away from the palace in Ukraine’s capital goods belonging to former President Poroshenko (pictured right).

His right-hand man, Oleg Gladkovskiy-Svinarchuk, was arrested two days ago on corruption charges by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). Another confidant escaped.

Poroshenko fired Ukraine’s general prosecutor after being threatened by Vice President Joe Biden that he would lose $1 billion in US loan guarantees. Biden demanded the corruption investigation into Ukraine’s natural gas company Burisma Holdings–which involved Biden’s son Hunter–be ended immediately.

Hunting for a Good Excuse

Hunter Biden gave an interview with ABC News, defending his relationship with Burisma Holdings and says he exercised poor judgment but did nothing wrong. New information surfaced this week regarding the deal Biden had with Burisma:

  • Hunter received as much as $160,000 per month for his seat on Burisma’s board, not $50,000 per month as was originally stated.
  • Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach says he has proof that $900,000 was funneled from Burisma to Hunter’s father, Vice President Joe Biden.

This week, Joe Biden told reporters in Ohio, “I’ve released 21 years of tax returns. I entered as one of the poorest men in Congress and left one of the poorest men in government, in Congress and as Vice President. I made no money other than my salary.”

Why this Matters: The Obama Administration was warned about Biden’s activities. George Kent, a top State Department official identified Burisma as a corrupt business and told the administration. Vice President Biden’s office said they were too reoccupied with Biden’s other son and his cancer treatments to pay attention to the warning. There had also been discussions about whether Hunter’s deal would be perceived as a conflict of interest. However, Hunter had joined Burisma in 2014 and Obama had already cleared him to sit on Burisma’s board, so no action was taken.

Kent testified about this at Schiff’s impeachment hearing on Friday.

No Quid Pro Quo” Hits a Snag

The case against the President brightened on Thursday when Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney seemed to contradict the President’s claim there was no “quid pro quo” (something in exchange for something else) with Ukraine. Mulvaney said the US froze funds earmarked by Congress to aid Ukraine because President Trump wanted the new president to investigate:

  • attempts to meddle in the 2016 US election
  • whether Ukraine might have the DNC server(s) and Hillary’s 33,000 emails
  • and because Trump felt the money would be improperly spent

Later, he tried to walk back his statements. “The money held up had absolutely nothing to do with Biden,” Mulvaney said. “The look back to what happened in 2016 certainly was part of the thing that [Trump] was worried about in corruption with that nation, and that is absolutely appropriate… This kind of thing is done all the time.”

Why this Matters: At the time of President Trump’s call, President Zelensky had no idea the funds were on hold. Zelensky said during a press conference that he felt no pressure from Trump regarding any investigation. Ukraine and President Clinton signed an agreement to work together against corruption. Even so, this is a new bone that the press and Schiff will enjoy chewing on.

How to Pray: Continue asking God for his light to shine in the dark places and expose all crime, corruption, wickedness and evil. Pray that the President will receive good counsel and be served by good men and women.

Passing of Two Baltimore Politicians

Thomas D’elisandro III, brother of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, died of a stroke on Sunday Oct. 20 at his home. He was 90. D’elisandro served as Baltimore’s mayor for one term, from 1967 to 1971.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, 68, died unexpectedly from “complications concerning longstanding health challenges,” on Thursday at a hospice. Cummings was a longtime politician from Baltimore. His wife Maya Rockeymoore Cummings is the chairwoman of the Maryland Democratic Party. The couple has been embroiled in allegations of corruption involving millions of dollars. Rockeymoore has received millions of federal dollars through her two organizations, both groups have received favors from the House Committee on Oversight and Reform—which her husband chaired. She is expected to run for his House seat.

Matt 6:19-20 – Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
