Schumer Threatens Two Pro-Life Justices – Protecting his $ource

Planned Parenthood activists set up shop on Wednesday in front of the Supreme Court building in Washington DC. And while the court was hearing arguments about an abortion case in Louisiana, Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) angrily threatened to wreak havoc on two pro-life justices:

“I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have unleashed the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

At stake is a landmark decision that could help erode Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision in 1972 that legalized abortion.

The question before the court is,

  • Should an abortion provider be required to have hospital privileges; and,
  • Does that requirement put an undue burden on women seeking abortions? 

Sen. Schumer’s targets are Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh (pictured above), both appointed to the Supreme Court by President Trump.

Alarmed by the threats, Chief Justice John Roberts quickly issued a statement:

“Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All members of the court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.”

Although President Trump referred to a judge appointed by his predecessor as “an Obama judge”—for which he was chastised by Roberts— Schumer’s statements are an open threat.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) opened the Senate session on Thursday, saying Schumer has a duty to apologize. He was followed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who said the Left is blaming the constitution and President Trump for their own failures. He said they’ve attacked the presidency, the first amendment, the Senate and now the judiciary, “taking a dangerous and disturbing turn.”

McConnell reminded the Senate of the danger of such language, recalling the Bernie Sanders supporter who opened fire and hit several people at a GOP baseball practice, leaving Rep. Steven Scalise (R-LA) close to death.

Schumer’s turn

Sen. Schumer began his response by accusing Republicans of a “gross distortion,” forgetting that the case before the court involves a constitutional right to choose abortion.

He explained his threats by citing his passion and his deep anger on behalf of women who want to “exercise their constitutional freedoms.” Schumer warned that state legislatures are restricting abortions to the point where the right is being stripped away, adding that Republicans are trying to accomplish in the courts what they can’t accomplish otherwise.

My point was there will be political consequences for Republicans.

I shouldn’t have used those words….I’m from Brooklyn, we use strong language. It was not a threat; I would never, never do that… And the Republicans that are manufacturing outrage over these comments know that I would never make a threat.

His final words of warning were, “We will continue to fight.”

New York legislature passes expansive abortion “rights” to cheers and applause

This polarizing issue is now being fought in the states. Conservative-leaning states are enacting laws to restrict abortions, while progressive/leftist lawmakers are removing restrictions:

  • The state legislature of New York broke into cheers and loud applauseafter passing RHA, allowing late term abortions and removing a requirement that a second doctor be available to care for babies born alive. The bill’s sponsor argued that with today’s techniques (of dismemberment) that was unnecessary. New York Governor Cuomo directed that landmarks be lit pink to celebrate.
  • Kathy Tran, a Democrat representative in Virginia, introduced a bill in 2019 which would allow abortion at 40 weeks when a baby is full term. At the time, Virginia had a conservative majority. They’ve lost that, and the legislature is now poised to re-introduce such a bill.
  • Illinois, Maine, Nevada, and Rhode Island have also passed expansive abortion laws. Some abolish parental notification and age requirements, force religious and private organizations to abort babies, and don’t require investigations into mothers’ deaths. Others legalize abortions up until birth, saying it’s all about “providing access to health care.” 

Fierce $upport

Planned Parenthood and pro-choice Democrats have a deal–a quid pro quo–that goes like this: Planned Parenthood contributes to Democrat candidates ($57 million from 2012-2016), and then the people they help get elected pass laws to fund Planned Parenthood–to the tune of $563 million in 2018, for example. 

The women in Wednesday’s rally expressed joy and triumph through abortion. This follows the #ShoutYourAbortion campaign begun in 2015, a move to make abortion “normal.”

Why this Matters: Whatever these people do to the least of these, they do to the Lord. Every human life is created in the image of God. When activists, lawmakers, or judges rule against innocent life, they are ruling against Jesus. Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh can take comfort in Jesus’ saying: if they hate you, it’s because they hated me first.

How to Pray: Pray for the hearts of mothers to be turned towards their children, for the Justices to rule correctly, and for the eventual overturn of Roe v. Wade. Pray for God to bring the whirlwind against the lawless so that they may understand before it’s too late.

Consider this verse from Hosea 8:7, where the prophet warns the people who made an idol formed into a calf. God’s anger was kindled against them, and He promised to break the calf into pieces. Is this the whirlwind upon which Senator Schumer mistakenly relies?

Hosea 8:7 – For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

(Those who sow the wind shall reap the whirlwind. There’s no grain on the stalk, and any that is there, strangers will eat it)

    That whirlwind scripture I remember Kavanaugh referencing during his hearing and it felt prophetic then. Just as others literally stumble and fall before an audience, this seems to foretell an avalanche of tumbling ‘giants’ while the world watches. To the end that all will know that God will not be mocked. There is One Lord Almighty. ‘Tremble before Him and kiss his Son. ‘ So grateful for the potency of Truth ! Thank you for being a Truth carrier Lori.
