Why “All Lives” Don’t Matter to BLM

The most unhelpful thing that can be said in these turbluent times is “all lives matter.” Never mind that every man and woman has been created in the image of God, or that Jesus died once so that all may live. If you believe that, you’re missing the point. Black Lives Matter literally means the lives of black people killed by police are the only ones that matter.
If you have any doubts, here is what CNN host Don Lemon reports:

  • “The Black Lives Matter movement was started because [of] police brutality. If you want an All Black Lives Matter movement that talks about gun violence in communities including Black communities, then start that movement with that name,” he said. “But that’s not what Black Lives Matter is about.”

Lemon made these comments after six black children were shot to death in Chicago, Atlanta, DC, San Francisco, and Hoover, Alabama, in one of the deadliest weekends ever (below). But as Lemon says, this isn’t about their lives. No, BLM is very picky about whose life matters and what to do about it.

BLM’s agenda is stringent and divisive. It pits family members and friends against one another, and even the evangelical church has become entrenched in the battle. Well-meaning pastors apologize for racism they’ve never committed, so desperate to heal wounds that they unwittingly promote a destructive, antichrist and Marxist worldview. It assumes two pivotal foundations that turn the gospel inside out and upside down: Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Intersectionality (IS).

  • Critical Race Theory (CRT) teaches that “racism is engrained in the fabric and system of the American society.” And the individual racist need not exist in order for racism to pervade our culture. Marxism teaches that all relationships are best understood in terms of power: all whites enjoy privilege and supremacy, while all people of color are the victims.
  • Intersectionality defines the value of a person by how many victim-statuses they can claim. The more “different” you are, the more right you have to be recognized, promoted, and catered to. Therefore, the destruction of the nuclear family and normalization of homosexuality is essential to the Black Lives Matter movement.

But don’t get hung up on whether BLM philosophy has merit. We need only observe that both principles above represent a roadblock to the power of the gospel, the freedom of forgiveness, and the equality of all who have sinned and are in need of a savior.

Also, don’t think there is a way to “fix” the oppressor /victim dynamics. The BLM remedy is to pull it all down, set it all on fire, and build it back under a Marxist/Socialist structure.

  • Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said on Tuesday, “As long as our economy and political systems prioritize profit without considering who is profiting, who is being shut out, we will perpetuate this inequality. We cannot stop at the criminal justice system, we must begin the work of dismantling the whole system of oppression wherever we find it.”

You might think Rep. Omar just wants a level playing field, but it’s just the opposite. The goal is to oppress whites. For example, California lawmakers just voted to reverse the Civil Rights Act of 1964, removing these words:

  • “The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group, on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.”

Under this so-called Proposition 209, the State will be required to discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity and national origin. You have one guess as to which class of citizen will receive the most discrimination. That’s right, white heterosexual American men. Prop. 209 may become law if it is approved by Californians in the November election.

Why this Matters: In 2019, the Southern Baptist Convention adopted Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality in “Resolution 9,” due in great part to the voting “messengers” being blindsided and not understanding the concepts. While resolutions are not binding, they are important because they send a message to the larger culture, especially the secular media.

LifeWay editor Trevin Wax defended the resolution saying the committee was not adopting or promoting CRT/IS as a worldview, but this philosophy should help Christians understand the world. Others insist that both CRT and Intersectionality are identity politics, and antithetical to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Craig Vincent Mitchell, president of the Ethics and Political Economy Center, reports he is aware of at least three professors at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky who train hopeful pastors in Critical Race Theory.

How to Pray: For the body of Christ to look into the Scriptures for direction, not to the prevailing philosophies of the day. For the Lord to heal our nation and the body of Christ; that He would bring a rod of correction, for judgment begins in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). May divisive people fall into the pit they dug for us.

Galatians 3:27-28 – For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Col. 2:8 – Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

I, for one, am grateful to law enforcement for picking off a couple of blacks. BLM’s much maligned “white, heterosexual men” created the greatest society on earth. What have blacks ever contributed? And I’m not white…
