Four Threats to Freedom: Why God Allows it to Happen

When I began writing this newsletter in 2015, Barack Obama was president and the erosion of the Constitution was well underway. An election was coming, and I was shocked at the number of people who told me they were so confused by politics, they had given up on voting. “We can’t afford that!” I thought, and set out to create a newsletter to explain politics simply, tell why the issues matter, and then suggest how to pray.

It seemed to me that the right person in the White House could stop the liberal, progressive onslaught on our nation and in our culture. Donald Trump appeared to be that man, and as President, he did not disappoint: pulling us out of war, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, securing first-ever air travel between Israel and Arab nations, destroying ISIS, peace with North Korea, building a wall at the southern border, standing for the unborn and with people of faith. This is just some of what he accomplished despite the ongoing coup to remove him.

Think what a second term would have meant!

Many of us thought that evil people would be brought to justice and our nation would be restored in righteousness. I even wrote a headline in January of 2019, proclaiming that year would be glorious! (Little did I know that 2019 would be the last “normal” year we would have.)

Now, it seems that a demonic spirit has been released to reverse whatever good Trump was able to do. Last year brought covid, and with it disruption, stress, disorganization, loss of liberty, and even greater strife. Things have gone downhill from there. But God will use it for our good. Guaranteed. So let’s take a look at four threats to our freedoms–and what we can do with this present persecution.

One. National “insecurity” at the border. According to a leaked document, the Biden administration expects up to 26,000 unaccompanied children per month to enter the US across the southern border by September. Yet, Mr. Biden adamantly refuses to call it a crisis, or visit the border to see for himself the horrors of children packed into detention facilities like sardines.

• “Nothing has changed,” according to Biden, who insists this happens every year. 

But we all see that it has changed. DHS just made an urgent appealfor volunteers willing to serve 120-day deployments at the border. The number of children illegally crossing the border this year is projected to be between 159,000 and 184,000. That’s double the number who tried to cross during the “crisis” year of 2019—and it doesn’t include the 500,000-800,000 families who will cross the border this fiscal year, according to the Washington Post.

When a group of Republican lawmakers went into the border facilities last week, they were told not to take pictures. They did anyway.

Our Response: Let us be as watchmen on the wall, sounding the alarm and spreading the word. Ez. 33:18

No Consensus on Covid

Two. The vaccine and virus situation is as confusing as anything can be.The CDC’s flip-flops on advice are infamous, and the administration would like you to keep wearing a mask. Mr. Biden gave a very short message Monday telling governors to re-institute mask mandates, saying it’s the patriotic thing to do. If masks work, why do we need a vaccine? If a vaccine works, why do we need a mask?

Multiple doctors on alternative media platforms, such as Dr. Sherry Tenpennyand Dr. Carrie Madej, have warned these mRNA products are not vaccines, but akin to a bio-device. According to Tenpenny, the mRNA process creates an “on” switch for an immune response, yet lacks an “off” switch, which can cause the body to attack itself with an immune over-reaction. This could happen after the mRNA has been in the body for 12 to 18 months and there is a covid infection.

For many pro-lifers, the use of aborted embryos in the process is problematic.

• Some vaccines, like Johnson & Johnson’s, were created directly through the use of cell lines from an aborted baby girl. 
• Moderna and Pfizer have also used that baby’s cell line in designing and testing their mRNA vaccines, but not in the end product.
• All covid vaccines are released under emergency authorization. That means they were not tested long-term, and pharmaceutical companies will not be held liable for any problems associated with them.

Evangelical Christian pastors are urging vaccination, as does President Trump. However, these pastors are adding a level of pressure, invoking Jesus’ name.

• Rev. Robert Jeffress, pastor of a Southern Baptist megachurch in Dallas, says that he wouldn’t refuse the vaccine–even though the process required the use of an aborted baby. Jeffress said that like Jesus’ death on the cross, good comes from unjust killing. He thereby compared taking the life of an unborn child, who has no say in the matter, with Jesus laying down His life willingly to give us eternal life.
• Rev. Franklin Graham, head of Samaritan’s Purse and son of Rev. Billy Graham, said that Jesus would encourage taking the vaccine because that is what a good Samaritan would do.

Our Response: There is much controversy over covid and these products. Everyone should do their own research and pray about the decision–fully convinced in their own mind, Rom. 14:5–and driven by love, not fear, because God has given us a sound mind, 2 Tim. 1:7.

The Vaccine Passport 

Three. Will we need a vaccine certificate, or passport, to shop, travel, and socialize? Israel has instituted a “Green Pass” system that allows only people who have been vaccinated or recovered from covid to participate in various activities, including indoor dining, shows, and sporting events. Britain has one in the works, and hopes their passport will be rolled out in six months. 

There are 15 countries worldwide requiring a vaccine certificate for entry.

Some people want to punish resisters. Harry Litman, a legal affairs columnist for the LA Times and former US Attorney who teaches Constitutional law, thinks a vaccine passport is a good thing.

• “It will single out the still large contingent of people who refuse vaccines, who will be foreclosed from doing a lot of things their peers can do. That should help break the resistance down,” he said on Twitter. (emphasis mine)

Others are sounding an alarm. Dr. Naomi Wolf, CEO of a tech company called Digital IO, was on Fox News warning about this idea. 

• “It’s not about the vaccine, it’s not about the virus,” she said, “It’s about your data. Once it rolls out, you won’t have a choice.”
• It will mean that all of your data will be loaded onto a digital platform, including your networks, your geolocation, and your financial and medical information.
• “This is the end of human liberty in the West.”

The Biden administration says it will primarily focus on passport guidance,while the private sector oversees implementation. According to a leaked document, the Biden covid team looked into an electronic test-and-trace programpioneered by the University of Illinois which enables businesses to deny service to patrons based on their health data. For now, the administration says it will not be mandatory for individuals to receive immunization certificates.

Why this Matters: No matter what each of us has done or plans to do about a vaccine, this is disturbing! True to form, YouTube and Google are actively censoring anyone who reports on the downside–such as this author. My video published Monday evening, which highlights these issues, was removed by YouTube for “giving medical advice.” 

Our Response: May God give us discernment like the tribe of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what to do, 1 Chr. 12:32.

What Constitution?

Four. Government failures. Aside from a few conservative governors, such as Ron DeSantis in Florida, who led the way in freedom from lockdown, masks and has vowed to stand against vaccination passports, our government has failed to protect our liberty at every level.

• The Supreme Court has refused to review any election irregularities;
• The newly-minted justices who are supposed to be conservatives are not acting that way.
• The House has been taken over by the most radical, irresponsible wing of the Democrat party.
• And the Senate hangs by a thread, with the filibuster requirement of a 60-vote majority all that stands between us and progressive agenda.

Mr. Biden is already talking about ending the filibuster because it is a “relic of Jim Crow,” the code word for historical enslavement. So according to the Democrats, who used the filibuster 327 times in 2020, this racist rule has to go. If they succeed, there will be no protections remaining.

Now, the good news!

Canadian Pastor Jim Coates has been released from jail. He was arrested for refusing to enforce government mandates, including limiting church attendance to 15 percent. Coates responded that he must obey God rather than man. For that, he spent a month in jail until prosecutors dropped all but one of the charges. He pleaded guilty and will face trial in May.

• “I have a responsibility before God to shepherd the people entrusted to me,” Pastor Coates said during the hearing. “I have a responsibility to be obedient to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and it’s simply that obedience that has me here in this place.”

Even Jesus learned obedience by the things that he suffered. Heb. 5:8

The body of Christ was built for tribulation–which means “pressure.” When the enemy persecutes believers, the Holy Spirit’s presence emerges. We have been created to grow and mature when pressed. The Church is also being sifted to reveal the opportunists and marketeers. Like Jesus purging the temple of the money-changers who made merchandise out of the faithful, the present purging exposes who is of God, and who is out for himself.

Why this Matters: Believers stand as lights in a very dark place, securely fixed on the solid rock of Christ. Jesus has promised that He will never leave us, and He has already prepared our place in Heaven. We will occupy until Jesus returns! When that happens, we will be overcome with joy, but those who practice evil will be overcome with sorrow like a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah says they are like a leopard that cannot change its spots–they are unable to do good and their evil only increases.

So in these interesting days, I am blessed to write these newsletters that provide information and encouragement. If, as some have said, the 2020 results will be restored to the actual numbers and Trump will return to the White House, hallelujah! If that’s just wishful thinking, our faith in God prevails. We rejoice and remain unafraid. What can man do unto us?

How to Pray: Father, give us an eternal perspective for the time is short. Help us to keep our eyes on Jesus, to occupy until He comes, and to be grateful every day because Your blessings abound. Strengthen our faith as we stand against the enemy. Give us opportunities to share your love and the gospel of Jesus. May we remember that loving Jesus means keeping His commandments, and that persecution produces perfection. 1 Peter 5:10. Amen.
