As the Biden presidency enters its fourth month, it is either one of the worst in US history or one of the greatest wake-up calls our nation has ever seen. Maybe both. From the erosions of liberty to the rejection of border security, we’re seemingly losing ground. Yet there are signs of new life–proof positive that the American people are waking up. Here are the most egregious elements, and the push-back the administration is facing.
No Absolute Right to Own Guns?
Last Thursday, Biden announced restrictions to the Second Amendment, claiming it is “bizarre” to criticize his executive actions as “contrary to the Constitution.” He also stretched the truth and lied in order to justify his actions:
- “Firearms purchased at gun shows are exempt from background checks.” Half-truth. Commercial sales at gun shows require a background check, private sales do not.
- “The only industry in America, a billion-dollar industry, that can’t be sued … are gun manufacturers.” Half-truth. Although they cannot be sued for misuse of the product, they can be sued for product defects. It’s very telling that pharmaceutical companies cannot be sued over any problems related to the covid vaccine.
- “Nothing I’m about to enact impinges on your right to keep and bear arms.” False. Plastic stabilizing braces and the crafting of guns at home will now be illegal. The administration will ask states to implement “red flag” lawswhere family members or law enforcement can ask judges to restrict gun possession of certain people.
- “No amendment to the Constitution is an absolute right.” False. The Fourth Article in the Bill of Rights states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Mr. Biden has appointed David Chipman, a gun control advocate, as head of the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms)—which Biden called the AFT, twice. Chipman posted thousands of social media posts advocating gun control, including false claims about helicopters being shot down by civilians during the Waco massacre, which he refuses to correct or remove. He has also labeled Liberty University a cult.
Awake: Arizona now prohibits police and sheriffs from enforcing federal gun laws that would violate the Second Amendment.
Awake: 20 states have outlawed the requirement for a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
Awake: West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has threatened to sue the Biden administration for taking away gun rights, and it is likely that other Republican attorneys general will join him, such as Ken Paxton (R-TX).
Border Becomes Disaster for Democrats
Nearly three weeks ago, Vice President Harris was tasked to handle the crisis at the border. She has traversed the nation since then, but has not visited the border. Harris did tweet a “thank you” to the President of Mexico for his “cooperation” and said she looks forward to addressing the “root causes of migration by improving conditions in the region.”
This week we learned that means paying cash to the residents of Central America.
Under President Trump, Mexico agreed to keep asylum seekers until their case was heard, but this policy was ended in January. The number of people crossing the border is the highest in 15 years. More than a quarter million people have crossed in the past two months.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott reported there were three separate allegations of sexual abuse of children at the San Antonio Coliseum. Abbott said the facility was short on staff, some children were not eating enough food, and those infected with the coronavirus were not separated from healthy teens. He wants to shut it down.
The administration is currently spending $60 million per week to house and feed unaccompanied minors. ICE has awarded an $87 million no-bid contract to a non-profit organization with ties to the Biden administration. According to former acting ICE Director Tom Homan, the best facilities with experienced officers are empty.
Awake: The Biden administration is considering “limited construction” at the border. That may include renovation and particular projects that need to be finished, according to DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
SURVEY SAYS
A stunning new poll conducted by Heritage Foundation reveals Americans are fed up with Biden’s border policies.
- In 16 battleground congressional districts in 15 states, 56 percent blame Biden’s dismantling of former President Trump’s policies for the border crisis (48% strongly do so).
- Half said that they are “less likely to support Democrat candidates in the 2022 election for Congress” because of the border crisis.
- Three quarters said Americans should come first for government benefits and illegals should be deported.
- Hispanics agree the immigration disaster is Biden’s fault and that Democrats will pay a price in the upcoming election.
New York’s Folly
New York is offering one-time payments of up to $15,600 to illegal alienresidents who lost their jobs during the pandemic. It will cost $2.1 billion. New York is also benefitting from billions of dollars in bail-outs that were included in the Covid “relief” bill.
Awake: GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin will challenge NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2022. Cuomo is under fire for sexual misconduct allegations and for his treatment of the elderly during the pandemic. Zeldin raised $1 million in campaign contributions immediately after his announcement.
Supreme Mistake
The White House announced the creation of a Supreme Court commissionto suggest Supreme Court reform, including the possibility of “packing the court,” or adding to the number of nine justices. The 36-member commission, comprised of law professors, constitutional scholars and former judges, will examine the genesis of the reform debate, the court’s role in the constitutional system, the length of service and turnover of justices on the court, and the court’s case selection, rules and practices. They have 180 days to come up with recommendations.
Win: On Friday, the Supreme Court struck down CA Gov. Newsome’s restrictions against home Bible studies, 5-4.
Awake: Legal challenges to the election aren’t going away.
- Arizona has hired a panel of auditors to look into the 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County.
- In a Michigan courtroom, Attorney Matthew DePerno has presented five documents containing findings and exhibits for evidence of extensive fraud in eight Michigan counties. They show ES&S DS200 voting machines as well as Dominion Voting Systems were designed to be connected to the internet, violating security protocols.
- Investigators discovered voter IDs for 66,194 ballots were not found in the registration database. Key findings of this court case can be found here.
Awake: Voting machines will be audited in New Hampshire. Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill authorizing a forensic audit to determine the reason for a large discrepancy between the election day results and subsequent recount of a State Rep. race. There were 10,006 ballots cast and a recount found a disparity of 1,363 total votes.
Awake: A Wisconsin court is judging whether leftist private corporations had undue control over aspects of the 2020 election. The Green Bay mayor’s office handed over the keys to the vote counting room to a local Democratic operative. He worked with the Center for Tech and Civic Life to bring in Democrat political consultants and lawyers to set election policy in the presidential election.
Government Seizes Church
Pastor James Coates of Grace Life Church in Alberta, Canada, went to jail for refusing to limit attendance for worship. He spent 35 days behind bars and faces trial in May. Last Wednesday, the church was raided at down by police and a fence was erected around the building.
Crowds of people gathered on the property Sunday, some of them ripping down the fencing. These were not church members–who were meeting at an undisclosed location. A statement released by the church noted that the members and leadership are not in control of the building or grounds at this time. They published the Sunday service online, and Pastor Coates greeted the people saying, “they can take our facility, but we’ll just find another one.” One of the hymns was, “It is Well With My Soul.”
Why This Matters: God is shaking up His church. Those built on the solid rock of Jesus will stand and flourish amid persecution.
How to Pray: Father, we humble ourselves, repent, and pray for our land. Much evil has been committed here, but You have left us as a remnant. Teach us how to pray and wage war for our nation. Strengthen those who have a heart to do righteousness. Awaken Your church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
