Biden’s “Build Back Better” BUSTED

West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin used his power as the deciding vote in the Senate to kick Biden’s Build Back Better spending bill to the curb. This $3.9-$4.9 trillion (Democrats score it at $2 trillion) spending package is a Socialist’s wish list that funds education, child care, health care, immigration, and the environment for the next ten years. It includes:

• Six semesters of free college
• Free universal preschool and child care ($425 billion)
• Electric vehicles
• Home ownership for low-income, first-time buyers designed to increase “racial and economic diversity in the suburbs” ($6.8 billion) 
• Clean energy projects ($14,000 per homeowner for energy-efficient improvements)
• Medicare expanded to cover dental, hearing, and vision
• 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave

Those are the “bonuses” for the Progressive Left. Now for the penalties aimed at the rest of us:

• New taxes for high-income earners and corporations
• The hiring of 87,000 additional IRS agents
• Cutting federal subsidies to hospitals in red states

Thank God, the provision to monitor citizens’ bank accounts was scrapped in the latest version of the bill.

More Free Stuff!

Free universal preschool and child care is the sound-bite Democrats are using to promote the bill, but in fact the subsidies only apply to lower income families and the bill harms the middle-class. It forces higher pay for childcare workers, who will be earning $60,000 per year, and thus doubles the cost of care.

• Matt Bruenig, president of the People’s Policy Project, estimates middle class families will pay nearly $29,000 for what now costs them $16,000.

A side effect of such legislation will be a shortage of childcare facilities. The strict details of the law will put most home-based caregivers out of business.

 Even Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, a reliably liberal Republican, is against the childcare provision, She stated, “We have heard from faith-based organizations who have said that the new requirements would force them to close their doors in many cases. And that is critical because approximately half of all childcare slots are provided by faith-based organizations.”

The Power of One Vote

Despite arm-twisting by Democrats, including the President, SenatorManchin has stood his ground, uncomfortable with the huge price tag. He has repeatedly stated that his top dollar is $1.75 trillion, which is less than what the Democrats say it will cost–still an enormous amount for a nation that is $28.43 trillion in debt. 

A key part of the legislation, one that Manchin supports, is an extension of the child tax credit that gives some families $300 per child each month as a gift, even if the family doesn’t earn enough to owe taxes. The cost of this provision alone is around $1.4 trillion over ten years, leaving very little room for anything else in Build Back Better.

Why this Matters: The Democrats had hoped to pass this stinker by Christmas. That’s not going to happen. It won’t pass by NewYear’s, and it probably won’t ever make it to the Senate floor for a vote. Biden still has hope for its passage, saying Thursday night “we will bridge our differences and advance the Build Back Better plan, even in the face of fierce Republican opposition.”

Biden’s sinking numbers in the polls reflect American’s concerns about his agenda, especially rising inflation and the supply chain interruptions, neither of which looks to end any time soon. A recent survey found just four percent of likely voters are happy with Biden’s economy. That doesn’t bode well for the 2022 elections. Rasmussen Reports said Friday morning that just 38% of likely voters support BBB. Another 45% are opposed. 

You can’t get re-elected with numbers like that.

Next Step: Making Voter Fraud Easier

Their unpopular agenda is forcing Democrats to find another way to stay in power, so they’ve introduced two bills that enable voter fraud. But first, they must change the Senate rules so that only a simple majority is needed to pass such unpopular legislation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Senate Democrats would be meeting with a parliamentary expert to discuss how they can do that. 

Next, Democrats are using “voting rights” to justify changing the laws giving states authority to conduct elections.

1. If Democrats could get a rule change in the Senate, they would instantly pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which aims to reverse a 2013 Supreme Court decision, plus it forces states to submit any changes in voting rules to the US Congress.
2. Second, they would enact the Freedom to Vote Act, requiring all precincts to implement drop boxes for the deposit of vote-by-mail ballots. This controversial measure eliminates chain-of-custody provisions. Other provisions remove transparency from counting and turn over the management of elections to a “nonpartisan” group. 
3. Under the pejorative term “voter suppression,” Democrats are trying to remove any requirements for voter ID, calling them “Jim Crow” laws and saying they keep minorities from voting.

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell pushed back against these new measures, stating this legislation is unnecessary. He said most Americans believe it’s a “perfectly reasonable suggestion” for states to take ballot security measures such as requiring voter ID at the polls. He added, “The Voting Rights Act is still fully intact… it has been against the law since the 1960s and remains against the law today to discriminate against people based upon race.” 

Why this Matters: Senators Manchin and Sinema (D-AZ) do not support a rules change in the Senate, but both may vote in favor of either the Lewis Act or the Freedom to Vote Act, ensuring a repeat of the 2020 election–as cheating looks to be the only way Democrats could keep the House and Senate in 2022.

OTHER WINS

Thanks be to God for the following defeats of the Biden agenda. These were things we prayed against, and the Lord has answered!

AGAINST BIDEN’S AGENDA

• Saule Omarova has withdrawn from her nomination as Comptroller of the Currency. She is just one of the 150 Biden confirmations that have been stalled by conservatives and Senate Republicans for their controversial beliefs. Omarova advocated against private banking. Next one to oppose: Gigi Sohn’s nomination for Federal Communications Commissioner.She favors complete control over what is said on broadcast television and believes that Fox News is state-sponsored propaganda that is destroying democracy. 
• Biden backtracked on his promise to erase student debt. The money owed in student loans will need to be repaid, beginning in February
• Biden’s $450,000 per family for illegals separated from their children at the border will not be paid.

AGAINST MEDICAL MANDATES

• A federal judge in Texas stopped Biden from imposing vaccine mandates on employees of providers/suppliers of Medicaid and Medicare.
• Hospital operators, including HCA Healthcare and Tenet Healthcare, as well as nonprofits AdventHealth and the Cleveland Clinic, are dropping vaccine mandates. 
• Amtrak has suspended their vaccine mandate, just days after the railroad service began cutting services due to staffing shortages.
• A recent federal court halted Biden’s Vaccine mandate for federal contractors
• Gary Kelly, CEO of Southwest Airlines, testified before a Senate committee on Wednesday that “masks don’t add much” additional protection on flights because the airplanes already operate a HEPA filtering system. “The statistics I recall is that 99.97% of airborne pathogens are captured by the [high efficiency particulate air] filtering system, and it’s turned over every two or three minutes.”
• American Airlines CEO Doug Parker concurred and said an “aircraft is the safest place to be” as far as not catching covid. Parker later backtracked, saying he did not intend to cast doubt on the necessity of face masks on planes.

KEEP PRAYING

On these issues, we await a win. Keep pressing in through prayer!

• Pray for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, and that Biden’s approval of mail-order abortion pills will be rescinded.
• The FDA is asking USPS to block mail-order ivermectin, a drug awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine in 2015. Pray for God’s intervention against outrageous tyranny like this, and in cities and countries where freedom is restricted.
• Pray for free and fair elections and that Biden’s BBB will not be resurrected. 
• Pray for border security, a re-fund the police movement to take shape, and for God’s people to turn from their sin.
