Ukraine: Putin has a Plan. Biden has no Plan.

Several days into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, that country reports 137 Ukrainians dead and 316 wounded. It’s plain to see that Russian President Putin has a plan to overtake Ukraine on his quest to reconstitute the old Soviet Union. It’s equally obvious that President Biden does not have a plan. He has ordered sanctions without teeth, claiming they are a “deterrent,” even after Russia began the invasion. Meanwhile, Americans watch gas prices skyrocket and wonder if Biden’s promise not to send in American troops to Ukraine will hold. There are so many broken promises!

Vladimir Putin outlined his strategy on Monday of the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk, and demanded that Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, cease hostilities. Putin also stated that Ukraine was created by communist Russia after the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. “If Ukraine was to join NATO,” he said, “it would serve as a direct threat to the security of Russia.” Excerpts here.

Then on Friday, Putin appealed to Ukrainian soldiers and called for a coup in Ukraine. He told them:

  • “Do not allow neo-Nazis and Banderites to use your children, your wives and the elderly as a human shield. Take power into your own hands. It seems that it will be easier for us to come to an agreement than with this gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis.”

The media is calling this a bizarre appeal, and Putin a madman. Their memories are short. In November 2017, The Hill published an opinion article on the neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine, specifically the 3,000-strong Azov Battalion, founded in 2014. Its commander, Andriy Biletsky, stated that the mission of Ukraine is to “lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade for their survival.”

President Trump and former Secretary of State Pompeo were slammed in the media for complimenting Putin on his leadership savvy. Trump said it was genius to declare a big portion of Ukraine independent, and then to go in as a “peacekeeper.” He added, that kind of show of force could be used at the US southern border.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested President Joe Biden was to blame for the invasion during his Friday morning appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “We’ve seen a Russian dictator now terrorize the Ukrainian people because America didn’t demonstrate the resolve that we did for the four years prior.”

Many Americans wistfully remember the peace that pervaded the Trump presidency. Trump showed enormous strength and our enemies stayed quiet. This story that was reported by Michael Goodwin at The New York Post can’t be verified, but it fits. Goodwin says that Trump may have once threatened Putin, “If you move against Ukraine while I’m president I will hit Moscow.”

When Putin scoffed, “No way,” President Trump responded, “All those beautiful golden turrets will be blown up.”

There are no good guys in this fight. Putin is a billionaire dictator, but the government of Ukraine has a history of massive corruption. President Zelensky of Ukraine inherited a government that was run by the Clintons and the Obama regime. It has basically served as a money pot where the US gave $3 billion in aid over eight years under Obama and the Ukrainian government paid millions back in the form of contributions to the Clinton Foundation and the Biden family through Hunter.

Ukraine’s head prosecutor Viktor Shokin was appointed in 2015, but the Obama administration had him fired before he was able to untangle the web of corruption that led through the natural gas company Burisma. We have reported previously that at a Council on Foreign Relations event, Joe Biden bragged publicly that he threatened Ukraine they’d lose $1 billion in US aid if Shokin wasn’t fired (video image above). This is the same government energy firm that gave Hunter Biden a seat on the board of directors and a fat paycheck every month.

But we know that the money didn’t stay with Hunter. As he revealed in his emails, ten percent always goes to “the big guy.”

The media has tried really hard to protect the Biden family, presenting a unified front in dismissing any and all accusations and censoring their coverage. After all, as Joe testified about his son, Hunter is the smartest man he knows who has done nothing wrong. Never mind the strippers, extra-marital affairs and even suggestions of improprieties with an underaged niece.

Did you know that there’s a grand jury looking into Hunter’s taxes and foreign dealings? David Weiss, a US attorney for the District of Delaware, continues to summon witnesses before a grand jury to testify on Hunter Biden’s unreported income. That includes his baby mama stripper ex-girlfriend who took him to court to get child support. She and others are testifying to Hunter’s wild and lavish spending, which suggests far greater income than he reported.

If the scope of the investigation is widened by Weiss, it’s possible Hunter’s family will come into focus–including the shared bank accounts with Joe Biden, which is discussed in the emails contained on Hunter’s laptop.

In the meantime, the White House has announced feather-light sanctions against Russia. None of them touches Russian exports in a meaningful way, nor do they stop Russia from the international money exchange. Putin’s billion dollar personal bank account also remains untouched.

Russia remains free to ship its oil into America; the UK continues to buy Russian diesel

  • EU, UK, US together purchased $350 million worth of Russian oil and refined products on Tuesday, plus $250 million in natural gas
  • The total purchase amount from Russia this week alone likely topped $700 million
  • EU, UK targeted five medium-sized Russian banks, but not the three state-owned giant lenders that are key for the commodities trade.
  • Putin said Russia was planning “uninterrupted supplies” of natural gas to world markets

Germany halted the approval process for the Nordstream 2, the gas pipeline that connects Russia and Germany under the Baltic Sea, which sounds worse than it is. Although President Trump halted the construction of the pipeline, Biden allowed it, so now the pipeline is nearly finished. However, it will not be ready to start operations before the summer. Nordstream 1 is still online and follows the same route. It’s fully operational and supplying Germany with natural gas.

Hillary Clinton has been weighing-in on Ukraine. She blames Trump supporters for the conflict, and says cyber attacks against Russia will help defeat Putin. Hillary wants federal and non-governmental groups to hack Russian institutions, saying it would be difficult for Putin to plug all the holes. Not to be outdone, the Biden administration presented China with intelligence on Russia’s troop buildup, according to The New York Times, hoping that President Xi would step in and help dissuade Putin. Chinese officials rebuffed the US and apparently shared the information with Moscow.

What’s next?

Ukrainian forces are fighting for their lives, and the government has declared a state of emergency. Men between 18 and 60 may not leave the country, but are being armed and asked to fight. Women and children are escaping to Poland and other European countries, some of them are on foot.

At the time of this writing, the capital city Kyiv is about to fall, but Ukraine’s army has had some success, including shooting down a Russian aircraft with 150 paratroopers on board. About 1,800 demonstrators were arrested last night in Moscow, since protests are not legal in Russia

Russia now eyes Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Moldova, Georgia, and possibly Romania and Poland.

President Biden acknowledges US gas prices may keep rising due to his sanctions. He told the nation on Tuesday, “Defending freedom will have costs for us as well, and here at home. We need to be honest about that.”

Why this Matters: It would be so simple to reopen the Keystone Pipeline, provide new oil and gas drilling on federal land, fund energy exploration, and make America great again through energy independence. We might even have enough extra oil and natural gas to sell some to European nations. But the Democrats insist that we must be weaned off of fossil fuels, and are willing to make it difficult for the already strapped public to fill their tanks.

The people of Ukraine are showing great resolve in defending their homeland. NATO voted on Friday to help them and mobilize a response force of up to 40,000 troops. Some US troops will join them. And yes, Biden is breaking his promise.

How to Pray: We must pray without ceasing for the safety and future of God’s people in Ukraine. Pray that the fighting will end soon and God will deter Putin. Pray for a revival in the hearts of the people of God everywhere. When we are repentant, God promises to rescue us from our enemies.

1 John 5:14 – And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:

Heb. 12:6, 11 – For whom the Lord loves he chastens, and scourges every son whom he receives. Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
